What To Know

  • Jep and Jessica Robertson decided to purchase their own ranch spot in Texas.
  • The family rushed back to Louisiana to welcome Lily’s new baby.
  • Jep participated in a pickleball tournament as part of the ranch community experience.

Jep and Jessica Robertson are enjoying their new Texas surroundings more and more on Beyond the Bayou. During the September 10 episode, Jessica spoke about the possibility of having their own ranch. Jep was unsure about the idea, especially knowing there was a lot of work to be done.

“You’re a good sales woman,” Jep said. Jep admitted that if, “that girl wants something, she’ll usually get it.” Comanche Moon continues to take shape as documented in the Great American Media series. However, the family is on alert, ready to hit the road, awaiting news about Lily giving birth to the fourth grandchild back in Louisiana. Jep also looks to sharpen his skills in a popular sport no golf with a tournament ahead.

Read on to see what happened this week.

Owner Lance met with Jep to talk about the experiences Comanche Moon and individual ranch owners would have available. The amenities would include pickleball courts. Lance was hosting a pickleball tournament with hopes potential buyers would bring their friends too. The winner of the tourney will then face Lance and Jep. This meant Jep needed to start practicing.

Meanwhile, Jep and Jessica’s daughter Lily Robertson was due to have her baby in a few weeks. Jess got a call she was in fact dilating and headed into labor early. The family in Texas loaded up and got on the road as soon as possible. They rushed over to get there in time to see the newest addition, Andi Kay. “Maybe she’ll be the next Michael Jordan,” Jep joked, seeing her tongue stuck out. Lily’s sisters Merritt and Priscilla sat down with Jessica, who put the finishing touches on the baby blessing gown. It was a challenge for Jessica with a lot of hand sewing that went into the fragile garment. She saw this as a n heirloom piece.

Jep took Gus and River to Mike Dejean, former Colorado Rockies pitcher, for a coaching session. He also fit in some pingpong rounds with his bud Scott, seeing a tie-in to pickleball. Scott was best friends with Jep’s brother Willie, but Jep got closer to him in later years despite an age gap. Scott and his wife Kelly later went to lunch with Jep and Jessica for advice on if they should invest in a property in Texas. Would it be a good investment? The couple was still on the fence about it. Scott joked about flipping a coin.

The episode also saw Jessica talk about her love of Christmas and fabrics for a holiday quilt. She even had her Yuletide mug out in June. Jessica continued the sales pitch on getting a permanent property in Texas as a place for the family. Jessica envisioned a sort of Christmas-palooza. Jep was thinking about the cost and stress that came with a project like that. Jep offered to talk to Lance when they got back to Mingus.

Gus and River helped get Jep in pickleball shape. “It will probably take me three years to get good at this game,” Jep said. Gus agreed. River felt it would be more than five or six years. Their approach featured a meditation session to get the mind right on this pickle of ball game.

It was then time for the pickleball tournament. The players meant business. Gus and River were taken out early on, which worried Jep.  Eventually, it came down to the winners facing off with Jep and Lance. Lance actually hadn’t played pickleball much. I’m also not sure jeans and cowboy boots were the proper attire for success. So, it turned out Jep wasn’t the one he had to worry about. He surprised himself with what he could do. “He was definitely the best player on his team,” River concluded about his dad. In the end, a lot of people showed up and got to see the properties potential. So, mission accomplished on that end.

Lance broke the news to Jessica and Jep he could make the ranch happen for them based on the numbers crunched. The numbers numbering. “We’re real Texans now,” Jep said. The Robertsons were on board, excited to get their own slice of lakeside paradise. This means the work has really just begun.
