‘Password’: Alan Cumming ‘Backstabs’ His Opponents On ‘Traitors’-Themed Episode

Backstabbing, deceit, knives. They all make up the definition of a Traitor, but in this case, they are also used in the Season 3 finale of Password.

Alan Cumming joins Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, September 15, for two traitorous games of Password. They both try to get their partners to guess the password in order to win $25,000.

During his round, Cumming and his partner had two points while Fallon and his partner had four points. Here’s how it went down.

In an exclusive clip, Cumming and Fallon try to get their civilian partner to guess the password “Backstab” in the category “Password For the Traitors.” Cumming decides to play and begins with the word “Caesar.” He tilted his head back, trying to get him to guess the word.

His partner guessed “Julius,” which clearly wasn’t right. Fallon then jumped and said “Traitor” in a voice indicating that he was in pain.

Host Keke Palmer told him, “Judges said, ‘Relax.'” Fallon tends to do body movements on the show that can tend to give away the word. The Tonight Show host sank down in his seat and put his lip inside his mouth.

“Marcel Marceau over there,” Cumming joked. Marceau was a French mime and actor known for his persona “Bip the Clown.”

Fallon’s partner guessed “Betrayal.” She was wrong, and the audience groaned.

When it came time for Cumming to give a clue again, he said “Knife” and gestured behind him with his head. His partner guessed “Backstab” for four points. See how the rest of the game plays out on Tuesday, Faithfuls!

Cumming is hot right now, as he just earned his third Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program Host at the Creative Arts Emmys. He is also set to present at the Emmy Awards on Monday night.

The Traitors: New Blood, which is the first season with all civilian contestants, premieres on Thursday, September 17, on NBC, which Cumming also hosts. The regular season with stars is set to air in 2027.
