‘NCIS: Origins’ Trailer Brings Gibbs Out of Alaska & Back to the Office

What To Know

  • The NCIS: Origins Season 3 trailer shows Mark Harmon’s Gibbs leaving his peaceful retirement in Alaska and returning to his old office.
  • Also, see the aftermath of Gibbs and Lala’s kiss and Randy’s kidnapping in the ’90s timeline.
  • The CBS drama returns on October 6.

“I came to Alaska to find peace,” Mark Harmon‘s Gibbs says in the NCIS: Origins Season 3 trailer. “But ghosts from my past found me. I know now peace never lasts.”

Harmon is back onscreen for every episode of the prequel’s newest season, premiering on Tuesday, October 6, and it’s not just what we’ll see from his version of Gibbs that this new video preview teases. We also get a look at the aftermath of that kiss for the ’90s version of the character (Austin Stowell) and Lala (Mariel Molino) — and let’s just say that Gibbs’ shirt is missing buttons. You don’t need to watch to figure out why … but the trailer certainly shows what leads up to that moment as well as the act itself.

“Why do you wear so many shirts?” Lala asks. Isn’t it nice to see any version of Gibbs smiling so much? We love it.

We also get a glimpse of Randy (Caleb Foote) in the aftermath of his kidnapping, and he looks rough. “Someone at NCIS is a Russian spy,” he says.

“This was the case that started it all. Every case came at a price, and 34 years later, I’d be paying mine,” Harmon’s Gibbs says, and we see him packing and grabbing his rifle, telling his dog, “Time to get to work.”

His voiceover continues, “I know now Lala’s story isn’t hers alone. It’s ours. Turns out, the final chapter is still being written.”

Watch the video above for much more from the ’90s timeline, to see Gibbs leaving Alaska and returning to the bullpen in the D.C. office (!), and Bobby Moynihan donning the makeup again to play an older, present-day Woody, with Harmon.

In the Season 3 premiere, titled “Don’t You Forget About Me,” CBS teases, “In the present day, ghosts from Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) past finally catch up to him, shattering his peaceful retirement in Alaska. In 1992, the team races to rescue a kidnapped Randy (Caleb Foote) while Gibbs (Austin Stowell) and Lala (Mariel Molino) deal with the aftermath of their kiss.”
