What To Know

  • Theresa Caputo confessed that she cannot predict the future.
  • She said her work as a medium focuses on communicating with the dead.
  • The former TLC star acknowledged skepticism about her abilities and encouraged openness.

Theresa Caputo is once again addressing misconceptions about her job as a medium and admits that her so-called psychic abilities don’t mean she can predict the future.

The Long Island Medium star recently appeared on Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s Off the Vine podcast, where she revealed that the biggest misconception she faces is that people think she can see into the future. “That’s not what I do,” Caputo said, per FirstForWomen.com, when Bristowe joked about using her skills to predict the winning lottery numbers.

Instead, Caputo explained that her work as a medium involves communicating with the dead to help bring closure to their surviving loved ones. However, the TLC reality star said that she understands why some people might be skeptical of her claims.

“I get it. Trust me, I’m the first one to say that what I do is crazy,” she stated. “How can someone communicate with someone that has died? I get it. But the way that I have the souls channeled, there’s no way that I would know certain things.”

Caputo said the doubters don’t put her off; instead, she encouraged those people to “be open” to her abilities.

“I am not asking people to believe in what I do,” she added. “I tell people this before every live show… I give a speech on how I connect with spirit, and I also tell them, ‘You don’t have to believe in what I do; I don’t care if you believe in what I do. That’s not why I do the work that I do.'”

Caputo, who starred in TLC’s Long Island Medium from 2011 to 2019, said she wants people to believe in the afterlife. “More importantly, I want them to believe in themselves,” she continued. “That they still have this connection with their loved one, and that a soul bond will never be broken.”

She shared similar sentiments when she appeared on Khloe Kardashian‘s Khloe in Wonder Land podcast earlier this year. “There’s so much misconception, I was gonna literally say the same thing about you,” Caputo told Kardashian. “It’s so easy to judge, right? Or to watch someone on TV and to judge someone, and that’s something that I work on every day, is don’t judge.”

Caputo said she always follows the advice her mom gave her, “‘Don’t judge, because you don’t know the whole story,’ and it honestly is the God’s honest truth.”
