What To Know

David Zayas has returned for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, key set photos prove.
It’s the latest in a series of big revelations from the NYC set.

Angela Batista (David Zayas) is back in the house … er, the Big Apple.

New photos from the Dexter: Resurrection set confirm the return of his character to the show for Season 2.

In them, we see Angel, sporting his usual floral button-down, signature straw fedora, and leather loafers as he meets with Michael C. Hall‘s Dexter Morgan on the crowded streets of New York.

Angel is, of course, an original Dexter favorite who returned in Dexter: Resurrection Season 1 to confront Dexter after discovering he was alive and living in the upstate.

After correctly surmising that Dexter was the Bay Harbour Butcher, he took leave from Miami Metro P.D. and tracked Dexter down in hopes of capturing him once and for all. Unfortunately, Angel found himself entrapped by the serial killer-obsessed billionaire, Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), who ordered Dexter to kill his former colleague. Though Dexter declined and instead attacked Prater, Angel was shot and died in Dexter’s arms.

Before discovering Dexter’s true identity, the two were longtime friends at the station, even after Angel’s former wife, Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez) openly suspected Dexter of being a serial killer.

So how will Angel return for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 if the character is dead? Chances are, he’ll return the same way so many others have: as figments of Dexter’s imagination who come to him at key moments of decision or distress.

That’s certainly how we expect to see Harry Morgan (James Remar) return, and it’s likely that’s how Mia LaPierre a.k.a. Lady Vengeance (Krysten Ritter) will also make a comeback after she was also spotted filming an outdoor sequence with Dexter.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has been filming in New York all summer, and key set images have revealed a lot about what’s ahead in when the Paramount+ and Showtime drama returns, including first glimpses of the New York Ripper (Brian Cox), the Five Boroughs Killer (Dan Stevens), the return of Quinn (Desmond Harrington), and so much more.
