Fox News’ Jesse Watters jokingly accused Jessica Tarlov of “gay-shaming” him on Wednesday’s (August 26) episode of The Five after she dubbed Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed his “new boyfriend.”

The comment came after El-Sayed appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime on Monday (August 24), where the pair went back and forth for 25 minutes on various topics, including immigration, healthcare, and transgender athletes. At one point, after a question about gender-affirming care for minors, El-Sayed asked Watters, “Are you circumcised?”

Despite the interview’s contentious nature, Watters admitted the next day that he liked El-Sayed. “I like him. I don’t want to like him. I like him for some stupid reason,” he told his Five co-hosts on Tuesday (August 25). He shared similar sentiments later that day on his primetime show, saying, “I actually like Abdul. I probably shouldn’t like him, but I do.”

Tarlov brought up Watters’ interview with El-Sayed on Wednesday’s edition of The Five as the panel was discussing comments from Hillary Clinton, who said the rise of democratic socialists was an “experiment” for the Democratic Party.

After Watters and co-host Greg Gutfeld joked about Tarlov “experimenting in college,” the liberal commentator tried to make a point about the success of democratic socialists. “You guys are so annoying,” she said with a laugh before continuing to share her opinion.

She added, “It’s about speaking to the concerns of the populace, and that is something that actually these candidates from the DSA or from the progressive left, like Jesse’s new boyfriend, Abdul, are doing a lot more effectively than the center of the party.”

“Are you gay-shaming me?” Watters asked as Gutfeld laughed in the background.

“I am gay-priding you every day, Jesse,” Tarlov replied. “I very much enjoyed the interview, and was sad that I missed circumcision day.”

The back and forth continued when Tarlov brought up Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, of whom Lisa Kennedy Montgomery said, “I think now he’s experimenting with heterosexuality.”

“Don’t gay-shame Jesse,” Tarlov responded.

“I celebrate whatever Jesse and James Talarico are doing in that upcoming interview,” Kennedy Montgomery quipped.
