‘Leanne’ Star Leanne Morgan Talks Tim Daly’s Future & Season 3 Hopes

We’re already fixin to rewatch the second season of sitcom Leanne starring stand-up comedian Leanne Morgan. She’s got more relatability than sweet tea’s got sugar as a menopausal divorced grandma whose hubs (Ryan Stiles) left her for his baby mama. We spoke with Morgan about some of the big moments. Watch the video above for the full interview. Warning: Spoilers for Leanne Season 2 ahead!

Leanne accepted her FBI agent boyfriend Andrew’s (Tim Daly) marriage proposal but then changed her mind. She wanted to continue dating without a ring. He said he’d get back to her and didn’t appear for the rest of the season. Morgan doesn’t want it to end.

“I’ve told those writers, I go, ‘That’s not over yet.’ He is precious. He’s still my boyfriend, darn it.” Discussing Daly’s new sitcom Newlyweds in which he stars with real-life wife Téa Leoni, Morgan told us, “I’m tickled for them. I love them and I love Téa — she’s a girl’s girl and darling. But he’s my boyfriend.”

Leanne also considered plastic surgery and even argued with her own reflection about it before nixing the idea. That’s something Morgan herself has done. The comedian says it was important to her that her character made that choice. “It was because of my fans, I wanted them to see. If somebody wants to get plastic surgery, I’m all for it,” she explained. “I got a lot of friends who’ve done stuff and I believe in you doing whatever makes you feel better, but it’s OK if you don’t. And I think somebody needs to say that.”

Morgan is on tour with her new standup show, “The Time of Our Lives,” but she knows what she wants for Leanne in a potential third season: “Victory. It would be great if she had a dream that she never fulfilled — get a job, start a business, start a nonprofit, go back to school. I want Leanne’s character to fulfill her purpose that’s outside of being in her family. She did that and she did a good job and let’s honor her. Now, let’s let her find real peace in what her purpose is outside of being a mama.”

Check out the video above for more from Morgan on how hard it was for her to yell at guest star Billy Gardell, the universal challenge of keeping a marriage together, and some kind words about the legacy of her fellow Tennessean, the late Dolly Parton.

Please bring back Leanne for a season 3. We need to see how her life moves forward. It would be a BIG mistake for that not to happen!!

I think Leanne is about ( no is ) the best thing I've seen on TV in a long time! The problem is, i binge it usually on one sitting then have to wait so long for a new season!! Of course I then I rewatch till I can say the dialog along with the cast. This is the best mix of a cast I've ever seen.

Everyone is fantastic. Please, please keep going and tell Leanne I absolutely adore her and so proud of her success. I hope she is around for a long time.
