‘Big Brother’ Fans Cry Foul on Time Capsule Twist
It has been three weeks since Big Brother fans were first introduced to the BB Time Capsule. In this twist, the contestant who receives the most votes from America gets to enter the time capsule, and they either receive a power or a punishment. Fans are not happy with the twist, as they think the results are rigged.
All the winning Houseguest has to do is sit in the time capsule chair and press a button as the chair spins. If they land on “Punishment,” they receive a punishment from Big Brother‘s past. If they land on “Power,” they get one of six powers from the CBS show’s past. They are only allowed to enter the time capsule once.
In week one, Season 26 alum Angela Murray was the first Houseguest to enter the time capsule. She landed on a punishment and received the Egg Detective punishment, which was first worn in Season 27 by Vince Panaro. All this was was an egg costume with a hat and a magnifying glass. The other punishments include Lord of Latrine, Hamazon, Camp Guide, Adam and Eve, and the iconic Red Unitard.
The following week, Survivor‘s Rick Devens was voted as the next person to receive the honor. He won the Diamond Power of Veto. This power is good for six weeks and allows Devens to pull a Houseguest off the block AND rename the replacement nominee, taking the power away from the Head of Household (HOH).
This week, Dee Valladares, the second Survivor alum, won another power. She got the BB Bribe, which is good for the entire game. This power allows her to give one Houseguest $5,000 in exchange for a favor, such as voting how she wants, nominating/not nominating someone, throwing a competition, etc.
The remaining powers include Replay, Never Not Pass, Mystery Competitor, and the Coin of Destiny. Fans think that the fact that the three reality alums are the only ones who have been voted in so far.
“I have no problem with the BB Powers as a concept… but the way they were implemented this season is incredibly unfair. Of course the Icons were gonna win the first three weeks! When America votes, and no one else has any airtime, who else could possibly win? The Icons have been on TV previously… so America couldn’t possibly have made a stronger connection with anyone else in the house, meaning Angela, Devens, and Dee were always at a huge advantage,” the original Reddit poster said.
“It’s just another tool for production to rig the game for veterans. I hate it,” another commented.
“I felt like regardless of who got voted for, it was a great way to set up the icons with extra powers. After Devin’s got his power, I texted a friend and said I guess there’s no point in voting since Dee is going to get it,” a fan said.
“Hate hate hate,” a Reddit user said.
“I absolutely love the idea of previous powers and punishments in a fitting theme, in this case time travel, but it sucks in season with a few vets. Especially one where they had immunity week one, only one of them could be HoH, and they’re steamrolling,” a fan commented.
“An awful twist for this season. I feel like any twist that has to do with fan votes is dumb since that means its basically up to the editors. It is ten times worse tho this season obviously since the first 3 winners were the 3 returnees,” another said.
“I think you have to choose between that and gifting them the first HOH. Because to have both is setting them up way too well. I do like that the first one was the egg costume though,” one last fan said.

I can't stand that the icons remain in power, I couldn't stand Angela the first time and I still don't like her! I was happy to see Rachel because i thought she would get rid of her, but then she left right away 🙁 Haley is calling everyone else mean girl she just comes across hateful meangirl. They should have drew the line and kept Jason. At this point there is no need to watch until the last day to see if Dee, Angela or Devins win, because the way its looking now the will be the last 3, what a horrible season!!! And I have been watching since season 4

So bc you two didn’t vote for them that means it rigged? It’s def not rigged but when 3 players come in with built in fan bases of course they were fling won. Jason too. Of course he was going to be top 3 in voting when he has already been on tv. It’s unfair for those 4 but it’s not rigged. Dee & Devins are beloved Survivor players, two of the most popular players. Dee and Devins are near the top of every poll for favorite player in the BB house too.

I think it's totally unfair to have the well known people on. The regular people don't have a chance. Now the alliance is plowing through the others and soon they'll have to start picking each other off. I really don't like Angela 😐 she's behind most if not all of the evictions.

SILLY. Usually, a group of smarter players band together to take out the Vets. Unfortunately, they have to win something for that to happen.

A) it was rigged for the icons to get the first three slots. And the other house guests knew it.
But B) an electronic board that has a spinning chair. There is no way to guarantee that production doesn't. Just click a button to make sure they get what they want them to get. It should be broadcast on the feeds and a task that you can clearly see is a pass or fail.

If the non-icon houseguests were smart they would have targeted the icons first thing! So, America voting icons to Time Capsule would offset that. But, since the non-icon houseguests all appear to be stupid we should let it play out and keep laughing at them!

How could they when only the 3 icons were allowed to win the first HOH? The first HOH guaranteed the icons could establish a power base. Some of the comps can be rigged in all sorts of ways. Did Devens really win the 2nd HOH? Whatever you believe, the icons had 2 weeks in power & had already collected the overpowered DPOV before the newbies ever had a chance to win power.

This season was over a week or more ago. The “icons” have this on lock and were handed a for sure win with the time capsule which I , along with lots if others feel was rigged. No reason to watch anymore. It is just a matter of whether it is Dee or Devens. Waste of time for all of us who are stupid enough to keep hoping Big brother can be good again. It hasn’t been good in years. It is ways one group grabbing control and taking the win home. Most boring show on tv anymore. Even die hard fans are disgusted. We look forward for this show and now is continuously a huge let down by cbs. The influencers are always there trying to get more popular. They admit they just want to make it to jury. They can’t take their eyes off themselves in all the mirrors. It is all about getting followers and hoping for a career from this show. It is a huge joke. After keeping being loyal since season 1 a BB d hoping it will be different this summer I am finally calling UNCLE.

There are always complainers. The next in line had been Jason, had he remained in the house. The former reality stars have a bigger following. But the fact is that the rest have not won an HOH or even a big comp, outside of Kamu, and the rest are not good players so far.
Time will tell how it plays out from here. Personally I think an underdog will get the next one, ie Mallory.

Can't stand the show anymore. It's totally rigged so the icons win. What happened to just having regular people play. And the theme of the shows have been so stupid. I the last few years of the show I stop watching it after the first few episodes because the themes of the show are so stupid.

It's a TV show. It's not a competition...no matter how much they advertise/promote it as one. Everything is scripted and produced for ratings. Whether the contestants actively participate or are aware of that script probably depends on how popular or controversial they are.

Sure there are edits on the show. But the bad game play is playing out on the feeds. No rigging in comps. It is a competition for big money. If it scrutinized as such. How old are you? It's a crime to rig games for money, and if it was a fact... the show would be nldone with. It has happened with other shows.

It's been rigged at least for the last 10 years of me watching, but this season it is "Bigly" rigged.for the returning CBS guest. This might be my last time watching if they don't bring the game aspect back.
