Megan Hilty Reveals Her Kids’ Reactions to Her ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ Appearance
From stage to screen, Megan Hilty has conquered big dreams: She’s flown in a bubble as Glinda in Wicked, earned a Tony nomination for her role as Madeline Ashford in the Broadway hit Death Becomes Her, and helped cultivate a fandom in the TV-show-turned-Broadway phenomenon Smash. But voicing Lasso Lucy — Daisy Duck’s favorite country star — in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ Special Mickey’s Country Farm is special in its own way.
“It’s thrilling,” Hilty tells TV Insider of not only being part of the series but also performing a new version of “Hoedown Throwdown,” the iconic song and dance number originally performed by Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana: The Movie. “It’s such a dream to be a part of this program in particular. I grew up idolizing Mickey and Minnie and Daisy and the whole crew and so have my kids. I’ve raised my kids on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.”

So, how did her kids react when she told them that their mom was going to be playing with Mickey and his friends? “At first, they didn’t quite believe me, which was a little offensive because they know I do animation and voiceover work like this,” Hilty admits. “But there was something about me telling them I was a part of this show where they were like, ‘No, you can’t be a part of that show! That’s our show!’ So, they’re really thrilled to get to see it.”
In the special, Lasso Lucy is special to Daisy. Calling her appearance “a dream come true,” Hilty doesn’t hesitate when asked about who her “Lasso Lucy” would be — and it’s someone she’s already been lucky enough to work with. “She does not disappoint,” says Hilty about meeting and working with Dolly Parton while working on the Broadway musical 9 to 5, starring in the very role made famous by the singer in the original film. “She’s one of the greatest people in the whole world. So, I do see a lot of similarities between these scenarios.”
