MS NOW’s Lawrence O’Donnell Slams Trump as ‘Stupidest Negotiator’ in U.S. History

Lawrence O’Donnell took aim at Donald Trump on the July 27 episode of The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell. The MS NOW anchor accused Trump of lying about his negotiations in the Iran War, which hit the five-month mark on July 28.

“When Donald Trump began his war, his time estimate for winning his war was first measured in days, then in weeks, then in days again, then in weeks agani, and now it has been months,” O’Donnell pointed out. “It has been five full months. Iran’s resistance to Donald Trump’s bombs and Donald Trump’s negotiations has been strong enough to make everything Donald Trump has said about his war a lie. Everything.”

O’Donnell insisted that any comments Trump continues to make about the war are “ignorable.” He cited the president’s “sickening” April post on Truth Social where he threatened that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” only to then post 10 hours later, “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.”

O’Donnell continued, “From that moment forward, the world knew the clownish man who started this war did not know how to wage this war and did not know how to negotiate an end to this war.”

The journalist then played a clip of Trump on Fox & Friends from earlier that day, in which he once again made horrifying threats. “I could take out most of their bridges in less than an hour,” Trump said. “But, you know, it takes them 10 years to build a bridge. Bridges take the longest and power plants are second. I could knock out the power plants within one day. I let them know that with negotiations.”

He also threatened, “They know I’m going to do that if they don’t make a deal. The bridges are gonna be gone, I would say, in two hours. And the power plants in one day.”

O’Donnell called Trump “the single stupidest negotiator in the history of American government” and said “the whole world knows it.” He also noted that Trump never once said in his Fox & Friends interview who he was specifically talking to in his alleged Iran negotiations. “The world can confidently conclude he was lying about that,” O’Donnell insisted.

Trump voters hold the distinction in American history who willingly and knowingly … well, maybe not knowingly … accepted more lies from their candidate than any other voters in American history. And if they didn’t know they were accepting lies, it is their own fault as analysts of information presented to them, that they could not tell that those were all lies.”
