What To Know

  • Fans of Days of Our Lives are upset after actors Paul Telfer and Dan Feuerriegel were excluded from the Daytime Emmy nominations.
  • No leading male actors from Days were nominated in the Outstanding Lead Performance category.
  • Many viewers accused the Daytime Emmys of bias against Days.

Days of Our Lives viewers are not happy with the Daytime Emmys after stars Paul Telfer and Dan Feuerriegel were snubbed in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category.

Despite being part of one of the soap’s main storylines over the past year, Telfer (who plays Xander Kiriakis) and Feuerriegel (who plays EJ DiMera) were nowhere to be found on the shortlist. In fact, no leading man from Days of Our Lives made the list.

Those who received nominations in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category are The Young and the Restless actors Eric Braeden and Christian Jules LeBlanc, General Hospital‘s Steve Burton, and The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye.

After the nominations were announced, fans took to social media to complain about the snubs. On the Days of Our Lives Reddit subforum, one user wrote, “The Daytime Emmys failed Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis) and Dan (EJ DiMera).”

“Almost the entire Daytime Emmy nomination list for Best Daytime Lead is ass,” the fan continued. “The only person on that list who deserves a Daytime Emmy is Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer from Bold and the Beautiful). Everyone else doesn’t deserve a nomination and most of Soap Twitter agrees.”

They added, “I just don’t understand why Paul Telfer or Dan didn’t get a nomination. The shooting storyline for EJ and the story Xander had from last year were Emmy worthy. I honestly wish the Daytime Emmy nomination was based on fan votes instead of votes made by executives who don’t watch these soaps.”

Others agreed, with one commenter responding, “Nine times out of 10, more actually, the Daytime Emmys fail Days of Our Lives as a rule. That’s just they’re going in position.”

“Well said and I co sign this. The academy hates Days! So much bias against them!” said another.

“Unbelievable! These two should definitely be nominated. The Daytime Emmys almost always get it WRONG,” another added.

“Same old tired nominations every year. Last year was so refreshing. Don’t all 5 of these guys already have Emmys?” wrote one fan.

One user pointed out, “Paul Telfer just won last year, so I don’t feel as badly for him but yes “EJ” should definitely be nominated.”

“Days always gets screwed over,” another added.

“Agree, both of these men could easy win it if nominated I feel,” said another.

The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards are set to take place on October 30 at the Hollywood Palladium.

I think it's rugged. I think DOOL has great actors that is why the Young and Restless is recruiting them. The actors on the young and Restless are not very good except for the ones that came from DOOL.

They've been biased against Days of our lives for years and it's not changing anytime soon I'm sure.

Days ALWAYS GET SNUBBED! The categories for Daytime Dramas also kinda suck because they took away the categories for younger actor / actress. I feel like the Emmys should add more categories. Best lead, best guest, best supporting, best new, best senior actor / actress, best young actor / actress. They should also add more categories for the daytime dramas for best fight scene, best slap scene, best tearjerker, etc. etc.!!!

That one "fan" got it wrong so let me correct him or her. "Almost the entire Daytime Emmy nomination list for Best Daytime Lead is ass. The only person on that list who deserves a Daytime Emmy is Steve Burton (Jason Morgan from General Hospital). Everyone else doesn’t deserve a nomination and most of Soap Twitter agrees.” See, made it actually accurate for you. You're welcome.
