‘The Real Wolf of Wall Street’: Everything We Know About Paramount+’s Newest Docuseries

A still of Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Wolf of Wall Street” film and Jordan Belfort in The Real Wolf of Wall Street, episode 1, streaming on Paramount+, 2026

In 2013, Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street took the world by storm. The film loosely recounted the life of Wall Street stockbroker Jordan Belfort and the wild world of drugs, sex workers, and fraud surrounding his ’90s firm Stratton Oakmont. The movie went on to become Scorsese’s most popular work — it was his highest-grossing film and was nominated for five Academy Awards, though it won none of them.

Belfort’s life is once again being broadcast in a new Paramount+ docuseries, The Real Wolf of Wall Street, which premieres on July 14. This time, though, the series investigates the darker side of Belfort’s life of luxury and promises a no-holds-barred look into the “manipulative,” “rat”, “scumbag,” that is Jordan Belfort, according to various interviewees in the trailer.

When will The Real Wolf of Wall Street premiere?

The entire three-part documentary will stream on Paramount+ on July 14.

What will The Real Wolf of Wall Street be about?

The series, much like the movie it’s based on, focuses on the career of white-collar criminal Jordan Belfort. He made his wealth with his firm Stratton Oakmont, which used “pump and dump” schemes to sell cheap penny stocks at inflated prices, defrauding investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars. After being indicted for securities fraud and money laundering, he became an FBI informant in exchange for leniency, wearing a wire and testifying against many of his former associates.

It’s no secret that the docuseries is meant to supplement the movie — in fact, the documentary’s poster uses the same visual stylings as the poster for the Scorsese movie. However, as one interviewee in the trailer put it, the movie didn’t cover the full scope of “insanity’ and the actual details behind Belfort’s life were too insane for Hollywood.

The Real Wolf of Wall Street hopes to fact-check the narrative and shine the spotlight on everyone hurt by the Wolf, featuring “never-before-seen footage, thousands of internal FBI documents, [and] archival interviews,” according to Paramount.

Who will be in the series?

The series trailer features interview clips from Belfort, his ex-wife Nadine Macaluso (who was fictionalized as Margot Robbie‘s character “Naomi” in the movie), former Stratton Oakmont brokers, and FBI investigators.
