Fox News host Emily Compagno is not happy with state officials who decided not to attend Donald Trump‘s Great American State Fair and has suggested a stunning punishment.
Speaking on the latest episode of Outnumbered, Compagno blasted the officials who chose to opt out of the Freedom 250 celebrations, including the states of Connecticut, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Pennsylvania.
While the plan was to have all 50 states represented at the event in Washington, D.C., several states decided not to participate for various reasons, including cost, sponsorship difficulties, and a reluctance to take part in any potential politicization.
Compagno didn’t buy any of those excuses and said the message boils down to, “‘My politicization of this, my hatred for an individual, my lack of respect for the office of the presidency and my clearly lack of respect for the United States of America, completely trumps—no pun intended—my public service of my occupation.”
She called it a “travesty” to the “citizenry of those 11 states that don’t get to be represented, adding, “To be discarded like that, overlooked, not included because of someone’s petty feelings.”
The legal analyst then recommended severe punishment for those officials who chose not to participate. “I find this so patently embarrassing, and I think that this frankly should be disqualifying for any of them that are seeking higher office,” she stated. “Let’s remind them of how petty they were to exclude citizens that wanted to celebrate their nation’s 250th birthday.”
“I agree,” her co-host Harris Faulkner replied.
Fox News hosts have spent the past week parroting Trump’s claims that the Great American Fair is a resounding success. However, the event has been criticized for its sparse attendance, empty booths, canceled concert, and other logistical issues.
Trump, who kicked off the 16-day event with a speech last week, claimed that his rally was “packed to the brim.” Taking to Truth Social, he wrote, “I wish we were able to have an even larger area, which we will be able to do on July 4th when I’ll be speaking again. The airplane flyovers and music were fantastic. Everybody stayed right until the end of my Speech because they loved hearing about a truly successful America.”
