‘Morning Joe’: Mika Brzezinski Cracks Up at Fox News Coverage of Trump’s Great American State Fair
What To Know
- Mika Brzezinski laughed over crowd sizes at the Great American State Fair, an event backed by Donald Trump.
- She also mocked Fox News for reporting that there was more to the event than meets the eye in photos.
Mika Brzezinski had a good laugh over crowd sizes at the Donald Trump-backed Great American State Fair event. The 16-day event began on June 25 and concludes on July 10 in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
While Trump has been bragging about attendance at the Great American State Fair, turnout has been less than stellar. “President Trump has been touting crowd size at the American State Fair, claiming at least 45,000 people attended his speech kicking off America’s 250th anniversary festivities in Washington D.C.,” Brzezinski said on Morning Joe. “But reports from the ground tell a different story.”
She quoted and NBC News report that said, “Based estimates from our team on the ground, nowhere near 45,000 people were present,” and a Washington Post report that said, “The crowd thinly covered an area, about the length of the National Museum of American History, smaller than some summer outdoor movie screenings.”
Brzezinski then mocked Fox News for “insisting that there were more people attending the event than met the eye.” She covered her face and laughed over that clip. “Ouch. OK,” she said, pointing out that the field at the event, which was in the background of the Fox News report, was completely empty.
She also shared a sarcastic tweet from Jonah Goldberg that said, “If only [Fox News] had employees who knew how to operate cameras that could capture these images he describes.” Brzezinski accused the network of “gaslighting” its viewers about the crowd size.
Several artists, including Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, and The Commodores, backed out of performing at the State Fair after learning of its skew toward one political party.
Of his first appearance at the fair, Trump claimed on Truth Social, “The Crowd was incredible last night, packed to the brim — At least 45,000 people were there, with a huge Television and online audience. I wish we were able to have an even larger area, which we will be able to do on July 4th when I’ll be speaking again. The airplane flyovers and music were fantastic. Everybody stayed right until the end of my Speech because they loved hearing about a truly successful America.”

I think the visitors at the Fair have been very patriotic in celebrating the anniversary. After all, there has been one visitor for each year.

republican trickery at it's finest. Say it 100 times and you'll believe it is true.

As the late fellow Republican president Ronald Reagan would say, "There you go again..."

Oh, the late Joe McCarthy would be soooo proud of you right now!

On the other side of the coin: Trump will now have to pay E. Jean Carroll for her emotional distress of what he did and said about her. And the Supremes, among them, Amy Comey Barrett, are allowing mail-in voting after an election, as long as it's postmarked on that very day, to be counted. So it's not all victories for The Big Red-Faced Cheese!

I have no idea what the actual number is. But I do know it's this amazing countrys 250th anniversary and that's something we should all celebrate!
No matter what side of the political spectrum you're on, if you can't honestly acknowledge this country's greatness and why so many people around the world risk their life everyday to come here, it may be time to put down the phine and reconnect with humanity.

It would be even more great if many of those coming here, legally of course or at least with the thought of eventually becoming citizens here, would not be turned away at the border. Though I do understand there could then be an overpopulation problem if that were to be the case...

I can celebrate the 250th anniversary in my own state. There's a whole country that's celebrating, so Americans don't have to go to DC to honor our country.

Just spit balling here: how bad do you think it would become if Gavin Newsome were the one Trump would have to welcome as the next President of the United States! (If that happened, he'd probably do what he did when Biden was inaugurated and leave before he even arrived at the White House...)

On that very day, I'm taping "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS like I do annually. Trump is usually not involved in that event and I don't think he'll be in this one either as I'm sure he'll want to make it all about him. But, as the saying goes, "You do you!" Oh, and I hope that one performer, Vanilla Ice, does eventually get to perform at The Great American State Fair to whatever number in the crowd gets to watch him perform perhaps his only real hit, "Ice, Ice, Baby" (which he basically stole from David Bowie and Queen's "Under Pressure" but I digress...)

“And we’re supposed to believe those two TDS riddled Fake News outlets are being honest about the crowd size ?”
You can believe your own eyes. Fox’s own video is showing sparse (and I’m being generous with that) crowds.
