MS NOW: Nicolle Wallace Laughs at Trump’s Rant About Great American State Fair
What To Know
- Nicolle Wallace couldn’t contain her laughter while reading Donald Trump’s exaggerated claims about the Great American State Fair.
- Despite live footage showing sparse crowds, Trump insisted on social media that the event was a huge success.
- Wallace remarked that the event failed to improve Trump’s political standing.
MS NOW anchor Nicolle Wallace could barely contain her laughter on Monday (June 29) while reading aloud Donald Trump‘s latest Truth Social rant about his issue-plagued Great American State Fair.
On Monday’s edition of Deadline: White House, Wallace played a clip from Fox News where the hosts denied reports of low turnout at the president’s Freedom 250 event in Washington, D.C. The Fox anchors claimed “thousands” of people were at the event, despite the live footage showing only a smattering of attendees.
“Don’t believe your eyes. Don’t believe your ears. I put on my glasses to get a closer look,” Wallace said after watching the clip. “The live shot literally behind all those people saying all those things tells a totally different story from the things coming out of their mouths.”
Wallace said Trump’s long-awaited Freedom 250 event “went off with a whimper this weekend with what looked like tens, dozens of people showing up for the event, which was plagued with problems, power outages, a shutdown ferris wheel, extreme weather and the cancellation of a performance by one of the only artists who stood by Donald Trump other than Kash Patel’s girlfriend, and that was… Vanilla Ice.”
She went on to say that the reports of the “itty-bitty little crowds” had got under Trump’s skin “in a big way.” Wallace then quoted the president’s social media post, where he described the event as “fantastic” and “packed with happy people.” Trump also said that “Obama or Sleepy Joe Biden” couldn’t have pulled off such an event.
Wallace broke into laughter halfway through reading the president’s post, saying, “Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m reading this.”
She added that “Obama did it last week at the opening of the Obama Center,” referring to the star-studded launch of The Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. “But, I guess in this case, Trump has a point… Obama has never in his life, like, Obama’s motorcades draw bigger crowds for OTRs, trips that aren’t even announced.”
After composing herself, Wallace said, “It was all part of a weekend that did little to turn around Donald Trump’s political fortunes and dispel the belief among Americans that Trump is obsessed on himself and his vanity projects more so than he is on the concerns of the American people – or his own coalition who are screaming at the top of their lungs about the economy and about a very unpopular war in Iran.”

It's quite easy to ridicule, Republicans have been doing it like champs since Reagan, but Democrats have their moments too. A two party system has grown toxic because it's no longer about helping the country, it's about controlling it and suppressing the common needs. The current administration embodies this so much you see and hear it with every press release or news conference or tweet. What isn't easy is to see what is going on and not stoke the fire, but try to limit the damage by reminding people WE can do better than two parties are ripping the country apart from both sides like divorced parents who both want sole custody...malice can be a choice. I hope someday people recall this.

Even Vanilla Ice melted away! He did perform, but sublimately.

I'm sure PBS' "A Capitol Fourth" will have more of an attendance than The Great American State Fair on the Fourth of July. I mean, I can't imagine the entire country being so excited to hear Trump repeat his "accomplishments' during his second year of his second term, that's for sure!

There was a non-political bipartisan America250 that was planning events. Then Trump got elected and made it all about him, not the left. It is Trump that cannot put aside his vanity for the celebration. Go chastise him.

You are so delusional it is almost funny if it were not so sad. You are right though, he has accomplished ALOT for normal Americans: higher costs, increasing unemployment, slow job market. What a winner!
