MS NOW, Fox News & CNN Ratings Show Dramatic Swing

The cable news ratings for the first week of June are in, and MS NOW saw a big boost, becoming the only network to post gains across total viewers and the key demo in both primetime and daytime.

According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen data, MS NOW averaged 976,000 total viewers and 102,000 viewers in the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic in primetime for the week of June 1. This was up 11 percent in total viewers and up 2 percent in the demo compared to the previous week.

The network was also up during total day, averaging 603,000 total viewers and 64,000 demo viewers. This was up 9 percent in total viewers and up 12 percent in the demo compared to the week before.

Despite the gains for MS NOW, Fox News remained at the top of the chart. For the week of June 1, the network averaged 2.3 million total viewers and 203,000 demo viewers during primetime. This was flat in total viewers and up 11 percent in the demo compared to the week prior.

During total day, Fox News averaged 1.432 million total viewers and 130,000 demo viewers. Compared to the previous week, the network was down 1 percent in total viewers and flat in the demo.

Meanwhile, CNN averaged 637,000 total primetime viewers and 116,000 demo viewers for the week of June 1. This was up 8 percent in total viewers and up 7 percent in the key demo compared to the week before.

Across total day viewing, CNN averaged 439,000 total viewers and 69,000 demo viewers. The network was up 2 percent in total viewers and flat in the demo compared to the previous week.

As for the Top 15 most-watched cable news shows of the week in total viewers, Fox News held 14 of those spots. Once again, The Five came out on top with 3.345 million total viewers at 5 pm ET. The only non-Fox News show in the Top 15 was MS NOW’s The Rachel Maddow Show, which averaged 1.951 million total viewers at 9 pm ET.
