‘Chicago Fire’: Miranda Rae Mayo Warns ‘Nobody’s Safe’ After Shocking Cliffhanger (VIDEO)
What To Know
- The Season 14 finale of Chicago Fire ended with a shocking cliffhanger that left almost of 51 in serious danger.
- Miranda Rae Mayo, who plays Stella Kidd, addresses the cliffhanger and teases what’s next.
Chicago Fire hasn’t shied away from killing off characters in the past — it does, after all, follow characters in a very dangerous job — and the Season 14 finale ended in such a way that we’re very worried about almost everyone in firehouse 51 after they responded to a structure fire.
“I know nothing about the resolution,” Miranda Rae Mayo, whose Lieutenant Stella Kidd was with the rest of Truck on the ladder when a fireball erupted from inside, tells TV Insider while sitting down at ATX Festival this week. (Watch the video above.) She does point out that she knows she and Taylor Kinney, who plays her character’s husband, Kelly Severide, will be back, thanks to news about their contracts just before the finale.
She continues, “I actually saw the finale, the last moments in ADR and I wish I had my phone. I would show you my reaction. It’s hilarious. It’s just like us screaming because it’s a huge stunt. We’re just engulfed in fire. I mean, huge shout out to Rick LeFevour, Sr. and Jr. Junior was on the ladder. These are the stunt people. Shawnah [Donley]. Everybody. It was an incredible stunt. The entire crew, we shot it the last day of filming, and I think I was actually wrapped and I came back to see the stunt.”

The finale kept flashing back from the aforementioned fire, which had all of 51 responding, including their former battalion chief, Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), though he wasn’t on the clock. He and paramedics Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) were the only ones outside and safe when everything went wrong. The three of them could only listen to the Mayday call as Squad and Engine found the fire inside and became trapped and Truck ran into danger on the ladder on their way down.
As for who Rayo’s most worried about, she names Herrmann (David Eigenberg), Ballard (Leroy Williams III), and Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente). Chicago Med‘s Sarah Ramos, sitting next to her, names Rayo’s Kidd, adding, “Thank god you’re coming back.”
“Everyone is in danger,” Rayo admits. “Nobody’s safe really.”
After all, she goes on to point out, characters could be injured and unable to return to work. That would shake things up at 51, too. “Maybe we’ll still be on the show, but who knows if we’ll still be on shift,” she suggests.
Which character are you most worried about? How do you think Chicago Fire will resolve that cliffhanger? Let us know in the comments section below.

First of all, I love Stella. She’s a take charge kind of woman who knows what she wants. She is awesome I love all the rest of the characters. I don’t wanna lose any of them. This is the best show ever I love it.

I fear Herman might be killed off or injured so badly he can no longer work. This would be devastating to the show and his family. He’s a great character. They could cut back Stella’s part I don’t hate her but she’s too big has become the main focus of Fire even over Severide! Don’t like that. She needs to less in our faces. Please don’t kill anyone else off.

Stella is the other lead alongside Severide. So i'm pretty sure it's natural that they focus on her esp that she's also the Truck Lieutenant & being the jack of all trades unit, they get called out more than either Engine or Squad as the other two are more specialized companies. I don't really get why people who've watched this show seem to understand that. Also you saying "i don't hate her but i wish they cut back on the focus on her coz i don't like it" is basically like you pretty much saying "i don't like her character" without actually saying it.

I don’t want Kelly or Stella. They’re the heart of the show. Whoever said her then don’t watch anymore.
No matter who says Stella I’m sorry but she doesn’t deserve to be treated as such.
They all deserve the respect and support of everyone because they work hard to make the show interesting and realistic.

I have to agree about not liking Stella. It seems she’s involved in everything that goes on. I would never stop watching because of her since I love the show, but she annoys the heck out of me. I would hate to see anyone leave because they really all work well together. It truly feels like a family

First it would be devastating to loose any of the cast. But my first thought is it could very well be Mouch or Herman. This has been the best group of actors for the show by far. With the exception of loosing Boden. I would literaaly beg him to come back to the show. He was always the glue that everybody together.

Unfortunately I think it may be Herman or Mouch! It will break my heart if they go! Love them both so much, but I Love ALL of 51!!

H
I hope not but I'm thinking Cruz because his wife is pregnant.

Majority of fans seem to think it's most likely Herrmann given how the finale seems to be centered around him in a way.

Sipiwicz is out. Bobby is reincarnated. Fiscus is now in charge. What a great show!

The ONLY person I would LOVE to see go is Stella "Bella". It's because of her, that I have stopped watching my favorite show Chicago Fire. The show is no longer about Firefighters doing their job, it's become more like a soap opera. But I'm truly sad to hear that another "regular" member will be lost. I so enjoyed Herman and Mouch.

Her actress just renewed her contract along with the actor playing Severide. So both of them aren't going anywhere esp given that they're the leads. But haters like you can actually leave. There's no need for more toxicity such as yours to be added to an already toxic show fanbase.

I love Stella! How could anyone not like her?
Besides that, I'm tired of so many negative people. Why would you stop watching the show by blaming one character? Weird.
-
M
Exactly. But the unfortunate truth is that there's people out there who absolutely hate Stella/Miranda for either stupid, racist, misogynistic, sexist or just plain dumb reasons. Like they just try to find it in themselves to look for anything to use to warrant unnecessary/forced hate against her or the actress herself.
