‘Today,’ ‘GMA,’ & ‘CBS Mornings’ Ratings: Who’s on Top and Who’s Lagging Behind?

NBC News’ Today has reason to celebrate, as the show claimed the top spot for the week of May 11 and was the only morning show to post growth in total viewers and the coveted Adults 25-55 demographic.
According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, Today averaged 2.99 million total viewers and 617,000 demo viewers for the week of May 11. This was down 2 percent in total viewers compared to the week before, but up 18 percent in the key demo.
Today, co-hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, was also up significantly on the same period in 2025, with total viewers up 20 percent and the demo up 7 percent.
ABC News’ Good Morning America finished second for the week, averaging 2.768 million total viewers and 453,000 demo viewers. Compared to the week prior, the show was down 4 percent in total viewers and down 3 percent in the demo.
GMA, co-hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, was up year over year, with total viewers and the 25-54 demo up 7 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, CBS Mornings continued to trail, averaging 1.736 million total viewers and 453,000 demo viewers for the week of May 11. This was down 5 percent in total viewers and down 8 percent in the demo compared to the previous week.
When compared to last year, CBS Mornings, hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson, was down 9 percent in total viewers and down 10 percent in the key demo, making it the only morning show with declines in these particular comparisons.

Strahan is my favorite of the cast. Robin is good, Snuffelupagus should have been fired for letting his personal feelings interfere with quality reporting, and Lara I just call her Big Bird.
Overall the show has moved away from news and human interest and turned into a shopping channel and Disney promoter.

Will only watch GMA and now that retirement is over two months away I will begin my day the way I want to, cup of coffee in one hand and not a care in the world about traffic into work.
Lara gets me pumped up as does Robin whom I would dearly love to meet.

I’m just wondering why they don’t count CNN, NewsMax or even Fox morning news shows? I have not watched ABC, CBS, PBS or NBC since they quit reporting news!

I enjoy GMA than the other programs because they seem to report more insightful information that exposes when something is not right. The other morning programs seem to sugarcoat the reality of what the public wants REAL information about.

Because the hosts drags on the ssssssss sound when they say the C letter in CBS, then again in the S letter in Saturday, I can NOT stand watching CBS Saturday Morning only because of this! They say, “Sssssssssssbs Sssssssssaturday Morning” every. Single. Time. I no longer can tolerate it and change the channel immediately.

Think people who have watched cbs for so many years became addicted to the same crappy and worthless and useless reporting not to mention phony that they still can’t live without it. They still need their fix. Having said that , paramount could find better talent. It is not just quality and accuracy of the news but the delivery.

To reach the 25 to 54 demographic that the shows are striving to do. They need that representation in those anchoring the shows. The why you are seeing not one show distancing itself from the others by any large margins.
