Should ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 Make Charley a New Love Interest?

Could love — or whatever grim monologue-filled version of that emotion exists for him — be in the air (again) for Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2? Judging from some key snaps of the New York City outdoor set of the show, it very well could be.

In a series of photos taken during production last Tuesday (May 19), including the one above, we see Charley (Uma Thurman returning to her role) and Dexter enjoying a candlelit dinner with wine at a cozy Big Apple bistro… and they’re clasping hands with smiles.

Now, in the world of Dexter, this could be anything, from a ruse to lure her onto his killing table to a show put on to distract others around them and beyond. However, it’s not common to see Dexter in this sort of romantic setup, especially in such a public place as this one.

Charley herself wasn’t coined as a serial killer. However, she worked for Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage), the serial killer collector, and did some deadly deeds in his service as well. (R.I.P. to Keith Bauer a.k.a. the Canton Clubber. We barely knew ye.) So, judging by some of the women he’s been drawn to in the past — particularly Lumen (Julia Stiles) and Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski — she does have just enough of a mean streak to fit his tastes.

At the end of the first season, the two weren’t exactly on the same team, but they also ended things on a peaceful note, with Charley taking off to care for her infirm mother as Dexter did away with her boss. She did not blame Dexter for Prater’s demise, either, because she resented the late billionaire for holding her mother’s healthcare over her head to keep her in his pocket.

In Season 2, it’s expected that Dexter will continue his vigilante ways of tracking down the world’s most despicable serial killers and bringing them to justice on his table, including, it seems, the New York Ripper (played by Brian Cox) and a new villain (by Dan Stevens). Since Charley has a distaste for serial killers herself, perhaps she’ll use her special forces talents to help him in his mission… or become friends with benefits?

What do you think? Do you hope to see the two become a romantic item or something else altogether? Weigh in with the poll below!
