Harlan Coben’s ‘Myron Bolitar’ Series Begins Production

The story of Netflix’s partnership with Harlan Coben continues. This time, the streamer will present Myron Bolitar, which is inspired by the prolific author’s novel series of the same name. And now, the main cast of the series has been announced. Plus, the series has officially entered production, per a July 27 announcement by Netflix.

So, what else should fans know about Myron Bolitar? Here are all the details so far.

When does Myron Bolitar premiere?

A release date has not yet been set for the series. However, production officially began in late July, per an announcement from Netflix.

Who will star in Myron Bolitar?

The series’ cast is coming together and will Colin Woodell, KJ Apa, Diane Guerrero, Chloe Fineman, Jabari Banks, Jamie McShane, and Ben McKenzie.

Here are the character details:

  • Woodell plays Myron Bolitar, described as “a former college basketball star whose NBA career came to an abrupt end [and] reinvented himself as a sports agent. He built his agency — MB Sports — on an unwavering belief in overlooked athletes, with the same heart and fierce competitive drive he once brought to the court.”
  • Apa plays Win Lockwood, who was “born into extraordinary privilege” and “walked away from the family business to build something of his own alongside his closest friend, Myron. Unflappable, endlessly resourceful, and fiercely loyal, he’s the one Myron turns to when clients find themselves in trouble.”
  • Guerrero stars as Esperanza Diaz, “a former professional wrestler turned Myron’s indispensable right hand at MB Sports. Armed with endless grit and razor-sharp wit, Esperanza is the backbone of the agency and the steady force keeping both Myron and clients in check.”
  • Fineman stars as Parker Quinn, “a sports reporter… who has built a stellar reputation through hard work and an undeniable passion for the game.”
  • Banks’ character is Dwayne Richmond, a tennis pro client of Bolitar.
  • McShane is an NYPD homicide detective, Ray Dimonte.
  • McKenzie’s Gavin Pierce, a major sports agent who used to represent Bolitar before his injury.
  • Ra’Mya Latiah Aikens as Wanda Green, “Dwayne Richmond’s charming and smart fiancée determined to protect Dwayne and their relationship.
  • Isaiah Hill as Jayden Elder, “an incoming college freshman, Jayden is a generational basketball player primed to be the first overall pick in the NBA draft.”
  • Amanda Warren as Deanna Richmond, Dwayne’s mother, who “worries about the pressure on her son, but has complete faith in Myron.”
  • Quincy Isaiah as Rodney Keys, a client of Myron’s and “an NBA player with a big heart and questionable decision-making skills.
  • Bebe Neuwirth as Ellen Bolitar, Myron’s mother, “a former public defender, who lives in a house Myron bought for his parents before his basketball career came to a grinding halt.”
  • Griffin Dunne as Alan Bolitar, Myron’s father, “who is extremely close with Myron, serving as a source of good advice and unwavering support.”
  • Melissa Benoist as Valerie Simpson, “a former tennis star launching a comeback five years after a tragic, mysterious breakdown on center court.”
  • Charlie Tahan as Roger Quincy, “an off-kilter man who doesn’t want to be defined by his past but can’t seem to stay away from it.”
  • Jamie Hector as Avery Crowder, “a man with a criminal past determined to succeed in the business of sports — and by any means necessary.”
  • Sandrine Holt as Detective Sharon Steele, “a detective in the major case squad, she is brought in to help investigate a high-profile crime.”

Who are the creatives behind Myron Bolitar?

The series boasts David E. Kelley and Kyle Long as its showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Harlan Coben also executive produces with Matthew Tinker and Rick Muirragui. Greg Yaitaines will direct multiple episodes for the series.

Of the team, Coben said in a statement, “What an honor — not to mention, great fun — it is to partner up at Netflix with legend David E. Kelley and his remarkable team on this exciting new series. The Myron Bolitar books mean a great deal to me, and I’m thrilled to have such a talented and inspired group bringing them to life.”

He also told TV Insider, while promoting his newest Netflix thriller series I Will Find You, “Myron is so dear to my heart, and I’ve written so many books, and I’m just in a complete panic, but I’m lucky I’m working with David E. Kelley. There’s no one better with TV than David, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens like everybody else. It’ll be interesting.”

Based on the Myron Bolitar novels, the series is described like so: “After an injury ends his NBA dreams, Myron Bolitar reinvents himself as a sports agent — using charm, smarts, and a ruthless partner to navigate the high-stakes and dirty world of sports, where saving his clients often means risking himself.”

Where does Myron Bolitar fit into the Harlan Coben-Netflix library?

The series is a standalone and not connected to Coben’s other creations and adaptations for the streamer, including the previously released  Caught, Fool Me Once, Gone for Good, Just One Look, The Innocent, Missing You, Run Away, Safe, The Stranger, and The Woods, and I Will Find You
