Why Jensen Ackles Doesn’t Want You to See the Secret ‘Supernatural’ Reunion on ‘The Boys’ (VIDEO)
There are enormous surprises coming you way with the new and final season of The Boys, but one of them is what we won’t be seeing.
As Supernatural fans know, that show’s creator and original showrunner Eric Kripke is now the king of all things Vought and he has peppered The Boys with SPN alums, including Jim Beaver, Rob Benedict, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and of course, Jensen Ackles, who is returning for the Prime Video hit’s last hurrah as old0-school bigot, Soldier Boy. Last season, it was revealed that Kripke was also planning an on-screen reunion of Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins and we’ve seen quick bits of the big moment in the teaser trailer for The Boys that dropped last month.
However, it sounds like there’s something on the cutting room floor that needs to be salvaged. Last fall during a celebration of the CW hit’s 20th anniversary, the Supernatural threesome revealed to TV Insider that they had filmed a take as their old characters. Now, Ackles is praying it never sees the light of day.
“God, I hope not, because it was painful to do,” he laughs. “I’m in Soldier Boy’s outfit and I’m trying to do this stupid one-off take that Phil [Sgriccia, director] was like, ‘Hey, let’s do one take where you guys are playing all those other characters.’ It didn’t make sense and it was a s**tshow, but I’m sure there’s probably footage.”
Still, even if we never get to see that one, Ackles assures us that their old boss Kripke has made sure that he, Collins, and Padalecki will be giving fans an on-screen reunion to remember…or maybe dismember?
“It was horrifically disgusting,” he says in the video above.
And honestly, we’d expect nothing less.
