He’s got 99 problems, and his pants are one of them! Kelly Ripa revealed a secret on air about her former Live cohost, Ryan Seacrest that had to do with his pants.

On the April 2 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Ripa and her cohost/husband Mark Consuelos discussed undergarments.

“You should make sure you have a cotton crotch,” was Consuelos’ top bit of advice.  Then he turned to Ripa and said, “I heard that [the] previous guy here, Ryan Seacrest, would split his pants here a lot!”

“He’d split his pants constantly,” Ripa admitted. Seacrest hosted the talk show with her from 2017 to 2023.

She then asked Live producer Michael Gelman if he recounted Seacrest’s antics. “Do you remember when Ryan would split his pants just doing random [things]?” Ripa asked.

Gelman shared that there were “many wardrobe malfunctions!” “He liked a tighter fit, but then he’d do athletic things…” he said.

“Athletic things?” Ripa interrupted. “He bent over once! He picked up a tissue, and he split his pants!”

Seacrest and Ripa have remained close friends since his departure. The American Idol host has visited the show numerous times as a guest, with his last being in 2025 to talk about Idol and Wheel of Fortune.

He is not shy about sharing his live wardrobe malfunctions on TV. In 2022, Seacrest revealed that he had an embarassing wardrobe problem during a live Idol episode that same year. “There was just panic about it, and we changed it,” he said.

Apparently, during the Season 20 finale, his stylist, Miles Siggins, said there was an “issue with his underwear” and he needed to change it. Seacrest did not have a backup pair, so Siggins offered him his “shorter, tighter elastic underwear.”

The host changed backstage during a commercial break, which he said was a “first for him.” He has not yet had a noticeable wardrobe malfunction while hosting Wheel of Fortune.
