What To Know

  • President Trump’s live speech about the war in Iran will interrupt major network programming on April 1, starting at 9/8c and lasting approximately 20 minutes.
  • Shows like Survivor 50, Chicago Fire, and more will pause or delay their episodes, resuming or starting after the speech concludes, with some episodes shortened or shifted later.

President Donald Trump‘s speech about the war in Iran on Wednesday, April 1, will interrupt the broadcasts of TV shows such as Survivor 50 (which is airing a two-hour episode tonight) and The Greatest Average American and push back the air times for shows that air after those programs. Greatest Average American is also shortening the episode that’s airing tonight.

Here, we’re breaking down all of the schedule changes and when to expect the interrupted shows to come back on.

When is Trump’s speech about Iran?

Trump will address the nation in a live broadcast starting at 9/8c. It will air on all of the major broadcast news networks, such as ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and more.

What shows are interrupted by Trump’s Iran speech?

CBS

CBS announced on March 31 that Survivor 50 Episode 6 would be paused for the speech, but it will resume once the president’s remarks are done.

Survivor 50 Episode 6 is a two-hour episode that starts at 8/7c. The episode will pause at 9/8c for the speech, which is expected to last about 20 minutes. Survivor will continue where the episode left off when Trump’s speech is over, around 9:20/8:20c. The episode will end around 10:20 p.m. ET, so long as the speech doesn’t run longer than 20 minutes.

America’s Culinary Cup airs right after Survivor, usually at 10/9c on CBS. Tonight, it will begin at 10:20/9:20c, again barring anything longer than a 20-minute speech broadcast.

ABC

ABC is carving out 30 minutes for Trump’s speech.

Abbott Elementary will air at its usual time (8:30/7:30c), but Greatest Average American, which usually starts at 9/8c (9:02 p.m. ET, specifically), will start at 9:30/8:30c instead and only be half an hour long instead of its usual hour so that Shark Tank can start at its usual time, 10:01 p.m. ET.

NBC

Chicago Fire starts at 9/8c on Wednesday nights, but its start time will likely be delayed by the speech. Viewers can anticipate a 9:20/8:20c start time for the firefighter drama and a 10:20/9:20c start time for Chicago P.D.

Fox

The Masked Singer finale starts at 8/7c on Wednesdays, and tonight it’s a two-hour episode that will be paused at 9/8c. It’s expected to return around 9:25 p.m. ET and air without interruptions (except the usual commercial breaks) after that, per Fox.
