In 1984, Jane Curtin and Susan Saint James starred in the series Kate & Allie about two best friends who decide to raise their kids together after going through divorces. The duo first worked together in the 1980 film How to Beat the High Cost of Living and later starred in Kate & Allie for six seasons until it was canceled in 1989.
