Glenn Howerton’s ‘BlackBerry’ Heads to AMC as 3-Part Limited Series
BlackBerry, the critically acclaimed film starring It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Glenn Howerton, is heading to AMC and AMC+ as a three-part limited series.
The feature from IFC Films debuted last spring and is set to begin airing on AMC on Monday, November 13. Episodes will follow on Tuesday, November 14, and Wednesday, November 15. The special television event includes 16 minutes of never-before-seen footage.
Along with broadcasting on AMC, all three episodes will be available on AMC+ beginning the same day as the premiere on November 13. Starring Howerton and Jay Baruchel, BlackBerry tells the story of the meteoric rise and catastrophic demise of the world’s first smartphone. Joining Howerton and Baruchel onscreen are Cary Elwes, Saul Rubinek, Rich Sommer, Martin Donovan, Michael Ironside, and Matt Johnson.
“We are thrilled to bring BlackBerry to AMC and AMC+ in the form of this three-part limited series for television, featuring extended scenes and new footage sure to delight the fans of this lively and frequently hilarious true-life drama,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “This is a truly entertaining story with great performances, whether you are old enough to have owned one of these once ubiquitous devices or not.”
Along with unveiling this news, AMC has released a teaser, offering viewers a peek at what they can expect from the limited series once it arrives next month. Watch it above.
Meanwhile, AMC+ subscribers can gear up for a “retro-tech binge” with four seasons of the AMC original Halt and Catch Fire alongside BlackBerry when it arrives. The upcoming three-parter will also be available under the streamer’s “Based on a True Story” collection where other films and series based on true events can be found.
