Former Dancing With the Stars professional Derek Hough needed a little encouragement from movie star Kevin Bacon on Sunday to get him through some rigorous dance routines from classic films.

ABC‘s Step Into the Movies with Derek and Julianne Hough saw the brother-and-sister duo recreating iconic dance moments from movies such as Saturday Night Fever, Singin’ in the Rain, Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, and more. But when it came to Derek’s rendition of Footloose, the three-time Emmy winner needed a little pick-me-up from the film’s lead star.

“Okay, listen up; you’re enough, Hough,” said Bacon, who had his breakout acting moment in the 1984 musical drama, notably for his impressively choreographed warehouse dance. “I love you, man,” Bacon continued. “Now, stop with the angsty dancing and get back to work, will you?”

With that positive reinforcement, Derek jumped back into action, performing stunning reenactments from Moulin Rouge, partnering with Step Up star Jenna Dewan for Saturday Night Fever, and bringing some Dirty Dancing with TikTok star and dancer Charli D’Amelio.

Julianne didn’t get a pep talk from the Apollo 13 actor, but she was right there alongside her brother, giving it her all. Also a former Dancing With the Stars pro, Julianne left the show in 2009 before returning in 2014 to serve as a permanent judge, a position she held until 2017. She won an Emmy for Oustanding Choreography in 2015 with Derek and Tessandra Chavez.

Derek served as a judge on the NBC dance competition series World of Dance from 2017-2020 and most recently appeared in a recurring role in the Disney+ mockumentary musical drama High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
