The latest dance competition coming to television is one for the entire family — both on and off-screen.

Come Dance With Me, from creators and executive producers Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J, will premiere on Friday, April 15 on CBS. Grammy Award-winning songwriter Philip Lawrence serves as host, while dancer and actress Jenna Dewan, professional celebrity dancer Dexter Mayfield, and renowned hip hop choreographer Tricia Miranda are the judges.

Come Dance With Me is a fun show with a big heart,” O’Donnell and LL Cool J said in a statement. “The show is about being creative, having a good time and bringing families together through dance. We can’t wait to see what these kids and parents have in store for America!”

In the series, which features music from popular artists across all genres, exceptionally talented young dancers (from 9 to 15 years old) from across the country invite an untrained family member who has supported their dance dreams to be their partner. The untrained family members (including a preschool teacher, a doctor, a social worker, and an engineer) have left their day jobs behind to learn the choreography for their kids.

Each week, the pairs will go on uplifting and emotional journeys to learn and perform challenging routines in different styles of dance, from hip hop and ballroom to contemporary and theatrical, with help from professional choreographers. They will perform a fierce new routine each week in hopes of earning top scores from the judges and continuing on. Each judge can award up to 10 points per team, on the criteria of technique, team chemistry, and showmanship. The teams that receive the lowest scores will then compete in a freestyle dance-off, with the judges determining which team is eliminated. The winning team at the end of the season will receive the $100,000 grand prize.

Reinout Oerlemans, Ross Weintraub and Jeff Altrock also executive produce for 3 Ball Productions, part of 3BMG.
