‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Divided as Mayim Bialik Takes Over Hosting from Ken Jennings
The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik is back behind the Jeopardy! podium as she takes over from Ken Jennings on the long-running game show.
Bialik and Jennings have been trading hosting duties ever since former Jeopardy! producer Mike Richards was removed as the new permanent host amidst public backlash. The Call Me Kat actress returned to the show on January 31, just days after contestant Amy Schneider ended her record-breaking 40-day winning streak. She is also hosting the National College Championship specials, which kick off on Tuesday evening.
While Jennings is expected to return before Season 39 bows out in August, some fans were disappointed to see the Jeopardy! G.O.A.T. replaced by Bialik. “I was actually a little sad Ken wasn’t hosting,” tweeted one viewer. “I’d wish they just make up their mind and make Ken the permanent host with Mayim the host of the specials.”

Others shared similar sentiments, writing, “Bring @KenJennings back,” while another said, “I really think Ken should be the new FULL TIME host… She (MissMayim) needs to go.” Another disgruntled viewer added that Bialik “needs to go” as “she will single-handedly kill @Jeopardy if she keeps hosting.”

However, not everyone agreed, as some viewers were more than pleased to see Bialik back in charge. “This is must see TV!!!!” commented one fan, while another wrote, “I love seeing [Bialik] host Jeopardy!!”
Another happy viewer tweeted Bialik, telling her, “You are such a great host of Jeopardy! Perfect personality, fantastic articulation, smart, and entertaining. Please don’t stop. I’ve watched more when you have hosted than ever before.”

Bialik previously hosted the regular edition of Jeopardy! from September 20 to November 5 before Jennings came in from November 8 to January 28. It’s not yet known for how long the sitcom star will be hosting the syndicated series, but she will be presiding over the National College Championship specials until February 22.

This is getting a bit ridiculous. I used to like Mayim a lot, but Ken is there more often and we've been getting much more comfortable with his style. He's not showy and comes in to host, not use it as a venue to constantly try out new jokes and interrupt the game. Fading into the background is an important aspect to the show, something Alex was a master of doing all those years, and Mayim unfortunately is distracting.

Although Ken was a little over the top with his admiration of Amy, I prefer him over Miyam. She never lets the contestants be the main focus of the show like Alex did. She makes it about her as much as she can.

I believe Jeopardy will be much better with Ken Jennings than Mayim. Ken is a proven winner of the show and has in my opinion done extremely well hosting the show. Mayim, while well liked as an actor and not to forget is a PHD in some science, just doe not have the charisma is just not there and might not keep the ratings.

Bialik has to much personal attitude. She swishes and delivers correct responses as though the answer was self-evident and she wished around as though she knew the answer so you should, too... Even though odds are good she did NOT know the answer before reading it for the show.
In fact, the show staff has already indicated she is a somewhat pompous self-absorbed person. I cannot imagine the next year, much less the next 10 or 20, with her as the host.

Mayim constant neck and head jerk or twitch is very annoying. She also doesn't have the flow and continuity of knowledge that Ken does. Keep her for the specials and let Ken do the day to day, or better yet, let Ken do it all.

As a Jeopardy lifer, PLEASE make Ken the PERMANENT HOST! After losing Alex, you basically drug us through what can only be referred to as cheerleader tryouts. It should have never happened; it created frustration amongst fans and damaged the reputation of the brand. Mayim is not the person for the permanent host position - by now you all should be able to see that. Her cadence is extreme and fake, irritating to the viewers and unsettling to contestants. She feels the need to add something at the end of each response, as if to say, “here let me elaborate on your answer to demonstrate how smart I AM!” What the heck? Alex would rarely do that. And for those that say, “Well, Alex is no longer here, and Mayim can change things up,” my response is this – there’s a reason why SO many people have watched Jeopardy for SO long. It’s the consistent format that focuses on the contestants, NOT THE HOST. If you must keep her for the special tournaments, I could accept that, but will not watch them. We currently have all of the recent College shows DRV’d, but could only stomach two of them and will delete the rest. If, however, you make her the permanent host, we will sadly say good-bye to a show we’ve enjoyed for decades – and to the commenter who said that the host shouldn’t matter, I can only assume that you are not a real Jeopardy fan. If the host didn’t matter, why in the heck are we all so sad to have lost Alex. ONE MORE VOTE FOR KEN!

Keep Ken Jennings all the way. He has been there, done that. Whatever her name is tries to be too cute. Does anybody really know her? I never watched whatever TV show she was on so she means nothing to me and I had never seen her before. But Ken means a lot to Jeopardy! I also like the idea of having Buzzy Cohen do the tournaments. Now he’s fun.

Please bring back Ken Jennings. I simply cannot and will not watch the increasingly annoying MB, with her attention-grabbing behaviors. She only got into a graduate school program because she was a celebrity with money which PhD programs need and want. She has never practiced as a scientist outside of school. She hawks supplements that haven't been tested and are of dubious value. She has some rather unscientific views about vaccines. She has this absolutely annoying habit of pausing before she will tell contestants that they have given the correct answer. What is with that?! And then there are her odd little body movements which makes one wonder what she's going to do next. She's been acting under the direction of a director most of her career. Her "spontaneity" looks and feels forced and fake. She is not the right person for this job.

I like Ken and would like to see him named the permanent host. I think a decision has already been made and Mayim has been chosen. Johnny announces her as "and now, the host of Jeopardy," while Ken was introduced as "hosting jeopardy." Also, Mayim is hosting regular Jeopardy and Collegiate Jeopardy, giving her double exposure. Ken does not have the on-camera experience Mayim or the other guest hosts have, but he does a very credible job as host. Mayim seems very aware of the camera and seems to get into character when it is on her.

Ken is ABSOLUTLEY the best choice. Not only is he more well spoken than she is, no one can argue the fact that he is one of the best to ever play the game. Ken is by FAR a better host. Not only is he more well-spoken, he does not pause for two seconds when some one answers a double jeopardy question, whether they are right or wrong. Furthermore, he inarguably HAS THE REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE. In fact, I believe he is the best to ever play the game. My friends and family all agree, That he should remain as the permanent Jeopardy host. We especially enjoy when he brings his anecdotal experiences to the show. Mayim; who began as a child actress and is a fantastic one once again, then earned a PhD which is an extremely admirable accomplishment in itself. Very intelligent and personable.
However, as a former contestant and record holder, Ken Jennings does possess certain unmistakable qualities and production knowledge necessary to be the next permanent host.
I wish only the best to both of them in their futures and whatever the outcome may be, and will always continue watching my favorite show on television. Alex Trebek, we loved you and will always be missed.

I think the show flows much better with Jennings as the host. He has more confidence in the role than she does. Her responses to contestant answers at times are a bit disjointed and kinda herky-jerky. Time to end The Great Politically Correct Game Show Host Experiment, and install Ken Jennings as the permanent Host of Jeopardy!

I'm torn: Ken was my first choice even before Alex died, but Mayim was great too. I'm fine with either one, but I'll probably also be disappointed that the other one didn't get it if and when one of them becomes the full-time host!
Of course, to be up front, I'd probably watch the show on a religious basis no matter who the host is. (Except for Doctor Oz. Eff him.)

The stars of Jeopardy are the contestants, not the host! That is what Alex taught Ken. So if you think she is the star of Jeopardy you are watching the wrong program! I miss the show when she’s on because I just do NOT like her and I will not watch it then…if she wants to be a star, then she needs to go back to a sitcom, which I watch very few because I don’t think they are very educational.

Yes! Buzzy would be great on the tournaments! I, too, have turned Jeopardy off when whatever her name is tries to host. She just doesn’t know how to be a good host. Alex took Ken Jennings under his wing and tutored him. He saw something in Ken and knew he would make an excellent host. If you keep letting her host you will lose several of your faithful watchers. And I’ve been watching for over 50 years. It breaks my heart to see what you are doing to this wonderful show. My advice: GET RID OF THAT WOMEN BEFORE SHE DESTROYS WHAT IS LEFT OF THIS SHOW!!! Reading all these mails instead of watching the show I see a LOT of people think like me. I actually thought people wanted her as host….NOT SO! See that from all the reading I’m doing. GET KEN AS HOST AND LEAVE HIM THERE. If you want, or think specials should have someone else, then try Buzzy out. He’s good, too, but not as good as Ken, but definitely better that whatever her name is. I never remember it, nor do I care to remember her name or even remember her. Mayim is the clear choice to host full time. She has a personality that is likeable. Jennings still has that arrogant air about him. Like he had when he was a contestant. My wife and I tried watching him, but now we just don't watch Jeopardy when he's the host. Jennings tried to be funny as well as Mayim, but he's just not. Most of you forget that Alex made many funny comments and.......they were funny.

How do you know she doesn't use her PHD? A lot of people have degrees they may not currently use. That doesn't mean the degree was wasted or is useless. It just means they decided to do something else. In Mayim's case it shows the dedication and fortitude it takes to complete a long academic journey. And I'm pretty sure that the years of study and work in a science field are still with her and express themselves, even if subconsciously, in her daily activities. She's so much better qualified than Ken Jennings.

I feel Ken is a bit condescending and irritable nowadays; perhaps he would prefer to just play on that other obnoxious game show where they tend to be mean to one another. Mayim is always cordial, competent and pleasant and I appreciate that.

Keep Mayim. Ken Jennings has to go. He'll destroy Jeopardy if he stays. I agree with the comment that he seems to be getting irritated and more condescending lately.
Mayim has a PhD for crying out loud and she's an accomplished performer. What does Jennings have? Not much except a supercilious attitude and fawning over Amy Schneider. He's not a good fit for the permanent host.
