‘Dexter: New Blood’: After the Shocking Finale, Is There More Story to Tell?

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for the first season finale of Dexter: New Blood, “Sins of the Father.”]
For anyone who is still chuffed about the 2013 series finale of the Showtime drama Dexter — which saw well-intentioned serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) fake his death and depart for Oregon — how are you feeling about the finale of its revival, Dexter: New Blood?
The New Blood opened up with Dexter now living in fictional Iron Lake, New York, living under an assumed name, with his killing days behind him. That all changed after events in the first episode and only built from there. Dexter was trying to keep the past in the past but that became difficult when his now-teenaged son Harrison (Jack Alcott) showed up wanting to know why his father left him years earlier.
After an epic conclusion, which culminated with Harrison killing his father in an end-of-episode showdown, we had to pick the brain of series showrunner/executive producer Clyde Phillips. We had to know: And could we continue following Harrison if the show comes back for another season? Let’s see what Phillips had to say.
Jumping to the ending of the episode, was Dexter dying at the end an easy conclusion, or was there a lot of back-and-forth about how it should end?
Clyde Phillips: No, it wasn’t an easy decision but it was a decision early on that it was time. And it was time for the show, it was time for the audience. I believe to keep the show going and having him get caught and get out of being caught and get caught and get out of being caught, it’s kind of a dilemma that I ran into on Nurse Jackie when I was doing the finale of that… Particularly after the previous finale [of Dexter in 2013], which has received so much dissatisfaction, we kind of felt we owed it to the audience to redeem ourselves, redeem the show, and redeem their experience and their faith in us.
Once you had Jack as Harrison in those scenes in the first couple of episodes, did any of that trajectory between him and Dexter change?
Well, no. What’s interesting is we had all 10 scripts written. So we shot this like a movie. The first day we shot a scene from Episode 6 and the second day we’d shoot a scene from Episode 1 and from Episode 5, and all of that.
To answer your question… we wanted to get Michael and Jack as comfortable with each other as possible. We realized we wanted to do that therapy scene early on to get Jack and Michael connected as actors and as people and as friends. It was a snowstorm day and we gave up a day of snow to shoot that therapy scene so that we could then go shoot the final scene that we’re talking about. It was a very emotional day. The crew was emotional, the actors, of course, were emotional. In preparation for this interview, I just rewatched the show and I was just sitting there with tears streaming down my face.
Going back to when Logan (Alano Miller) was killed, did Dexter break his code, or was it self-defense?
To lead up to that, Angela (Julia Jones) sends Teddy (David Magidoff) out to go cover Kurt’s house. Esther (Katy Sullivan) leaves. And then Dexter very cleverly says to Angela, “Turn off the camera, I’m going tell you about Kurt.” And basically what he’s doing is he’s getting her to leave the station so that there’s only one obstacle left instead of two obstacles, instead of three obstacles. So now all he’s got is Logan. And Logan makes a mistake. He doesn’t tell Dexter to go to the far side of the cell when he brings him the water. And we watched it. I’m not quite sure that we were 100 percent successful, that when Logan takes the gun and as he fires Dexter goes down and accidentally breaks his neck. All he wants to do is get to his son and get the hell out of there.
Watching Episode 9, Harrison witnesses Dexter’s code and how he kills and I wondered, ‘What if Harrison doesn’t want this?’ So in the finale, when Dexter says ‘let’s leave town,’ Harrison doesn’t want to because he’s established roots there.
Dexter’s observing and testing Harrison all the way. To the point where at the end of Episode 8 he says, “Now I need to tell my son everything.” But don’t forget, we’ve seen Harrison break that wrestler’s elbow. We’ve seen Harrison slash that kid with a razor because he wanted to know what it felt like. And yes, it’s a big chance for Harrison to stay home and feel rooted, but Harrison’s a kid and he doesn’t really know what he wants.
Dexter’s asking a lot of him and testing him saying, “We can’t stay here we need to move someplace. Maybe L.A, it’s warm without the Miami humidity.” And Harrison takes a little bit of convincing but not a lot because there’s something going on inside of Harrison. Another thing is, Harrison in his own teenage naivety looks at taking out bad guys as saving future victims. Dexter looks at bad guys as taking out evil not thinking about the future. He’s not really too into the future of it, so the future lives that are saved. So he’s really surprised and gratified and learning from his own son. It’s a reverse teachable moment, if you will.
Angela basically is going to cover for Harrison and tells him to leave, which he does. Is that just an instinctual reaction of hers?
It was parental instinct kicking in. She’s gotten to learn a lot about Dexter in all the interrogation scenes, which were great fun to write. The first thing she says is, “Drop the rifle. Hands on the ground, hands on your head.” Much like she had said to Dexter in her house. And Harrison’s offering himself up to be handcuffed and everything. Anybody can interpret this in any way, but I think it’s a maternal instinct saying, “This poor kid has been screwed over his whole life, and he’s got a chance and I’ve got a chance to do something right here. And I can cover for him.”
I think it’s a very warm moment that there’s a line in there where Harrison says, “Say hello to Audrey for me.” In Dexter. “Say goodbye to Audrey for me.” And she says, “I can’t.” “Why?” “Because I haven’t seen you.” I wrote that line three months after I wrote the script. It was just one of those things that popped into my head.
So because I have to ask this, is Dexter definitively dead? And is this the beginning of Harrison’s story in a lot of ways? I could see his story continuing if there’s an opportunity.
Yes, Dexter’s definitively dead. We’re not going to have him wake up from the dream or do anything like that. Insofar as Harrison is concerned, I would love to do it. This show as Showtime’s number one asset and if they come to me and say, “We want to pursue Harrison.” I’ll say yes in a heartbeat.

I actually wish they left the original ending as it was rather than making a whole new season just to end up killing Dexter. At least then we knew Dexter was alive doing what he does best somewhere.

Get a job for Gods sake. Its a tv show. About a serial killer. Hes not a victim weirdo, hes a character, a despicable pshycopath character who murdered anyone who he felt like, good and bad. It was an entertaining show, sure but there is real life to live the other 23 hours of Sundays. Get a grip. I mean you really need to get a grip, please, get help.

Its not that he dies thats the problem, I always knew he had to die. Thats the only way it can end for someone like him. Violent lives usually end violently. But you have to EARN it. This was so rushed and sloppy and all of the characters just start acting like pod people for the last half hour. The things Harrison says and does in the final 10 minutes are so insanely out of character it made me literally LOL. He cares that much about his HS wrestling coach that hes known for exactly 2 months that he murders his father immediately after coming to an understanding and bonding with him the day before. This was such a poorly written rushed POS that I honestly am writing off the entire New Blood series as non canon in my head.

They should’ve definitely had him arrested and had a season 2 where it was a ‘making a murderer’ style where they’re in court all season before the probable death penalty. (Have plenty of guest appearances in court). Would’ve been able to show the true Dexter to the world, instead of just showing it to his victims, wouldn’t be been weird and satisfying to see.
Meanwhile they can focus on Harrison slowly becoming a new Dexter.

I loved every second of the new series up until the finale. I can't believe they ended the show with Harrison killing his father. There were countless other possibilities, I would have been more satisfied seeing Dexter die in a shootout or get caught and executed. It's only been a couple hours since the finale but I am curious to see how diehard fans feel about this new ending

Dexter was living a normal good and quiet life in that small town until Harrison came in and ruined it all for him when he opened his big mouth and told that girl that Jim wasn’t his real name when Harrison was high. If it wasn’t for Harrison he would of still been living his normal life and still with Angela.

Get a life, please get help. Its fictional television. Tv shows must end eventually. The actors have real lives to live. You should try it. Get off the couch, go outside, talk to other humans. Maybe you can go to a park, exercise, have a picnic, fall in love, write your politicians and tell them you want your country to stop sel)ing itself to China. Call your family and plan a day together, a day without television and internet.

I loved the show all the way to the end but the moment I saw Harrison killing he's father is just super weird and un-creative to see even if I was in Harrison shoes, in the right mind wouldn't do that after a guy meaning Kurt almost did the same thing to Harrison right?
this is not because I wanted a second season or anything it was a terrible ending made the whole show feel like bland eggs with no seasoning I really think you guys should wake him up from a bad dream and redo the ending or just don't do it yet if Michael C. Hall agrees to stay with us longer , and there is not enough evidence for angel Batista yet to make Dexter go to court if there was they wouldn't say James Doak was the killer. I saw the pile of evidence angel took out but after seeing 9 season's of Dexter I know it's not enough if they want to go that way.
I may not have much voice but I am a big fan of Dexter and the show, we as audiences don't have all the time in the world to watch Every TV show/Series made in this world and picking what to watch is hard and staying with it for more than 5 seasons is harder I feel like a portion of my time is trashed into the bin , into the void! because of this ending.
If the Producers are reading this thanks for Entertaining me and the fans.

Completely unearned. It was like pod people took over the characters for the final 20 minutes. I dont mind Dex dying but you have to earn it. This was so poorly written and I can only speak for myself when I say, I have zero interest in watching a "Dexter" show with Harrison staring. Im not here for Harrison, Im here to watch Dex. Without him, there is no show. Not for me and many many other fans Im sure. Good luck with that.

Dexter: New Blood started out EXCELLENT. I didn't like the direction it was going once Dexter saved Harrison from Kurt & told Harrison everything about his "dark passenger" - & then quickly includes Harrison in killing Kurt. I knew the series was going to end badly then for sure. This was as bad as the ending for Jax in Sons of Anarchy: Jax lets his suicide hang on the innocent driver of the random truck he aims his bike at. The same huge trauma is put on Harrison in killing his father. I & all of my Dexter-loving friends & family would've happily watched years more of Dexter! The writing & everything was amazing - until it wasn't. I actually liked the original ending from s8 in 2013. Great revival, s9. Ugh.

Youre delusional if you think Micheal C Hall is going to ever return as a ghost for a few scenes, and youre even more delusional if you think theres that much interest in a Harrison spin off. Im a huge fan of the series, probably their target demo and I have zero interest in a continuation with Harrison as the lead. Firstly, hes not that great an actor, def not good enough to carry a network cable TV series as the male lead. No way in hell. Secondly, after what he just did how insane would it be for him to now become a vigilante? I thought he did all this because "it was the only way he could live a normal life". Okay so let him then. Let Harrison go on and live a totally normal boring life. Super cool.

It was so horrible, way worse than the first finale. Felt like, ‘let’s hurry up and kill him off already’. And what was the point of telling Batista if they didn’t even get to confront each other. If they try to make Harrison a show I will definitely never watch even if Dexter is his ghost. It is so unrealistic that Harrison would do that after the deep bonding moments together. Yuck I wasted so much life for two horrible finales 🤬

I seen all the reviews and I feel the same way everyone on here does. This was one of my favorite shows because of Dexter, killing him off was so wrong . He didn't deserve to die, by his own son. This is the worst ending ever. I waited so long for this disappointment. The world was a better place with Dexter in it.

So, lots of problems here. Lots of out of character behavior. I am betting on a DREAM SEQUENCE. For starters, Dexter has never choked in the face of huge stress/possibly getting caught. And the legal case was highly circumstantial with very plausible alternative theories. So if you are a cool cat under pressure (Dex) and you know they don't have anything on you (including on the BHB charge), why would you feel the need to attack the guard (Logan) when you will be released. the next morning. And Dex is always factoring every nuance into his decisions (even when under extreme stress), so he would never have killed someone Harrison cared for (Logan) and a person who didn't meet the code at all. Then there is Ange. Sure you could say that her first thought as law enforcement was "drop the gun" and then her maternal side kicked in and she sent Harrison packing, but that massively oversimplifies who she is and the professionalism with which most police operate and in particular how they protect minors involved in crimes. Ange is very professional, a stickler in fact. And it was the opposite of "compassionate" for her to let Harrison leave without family counseling, a safe place to live, and much more. So I think they are teeing this up for a dream sequence reveal if the show gets picked up for another season (which I desperately hope it does). We have watched the original series at least twice (the only series my wife has ever watched twice except for the Sopranos).

Absolutely the worst ending ever. The last episode felt like it was rushed and the writers just copped out by killing him. Harrison never would have killed his dad. Part of the reason Dexter was so loved was that we all knew he was out there possibly still doing his thing. I can't believe they brought the show back to end it the way they did. The original ending was so much better, they should of left it alone. I am soo disappointed.

Heck, even if they wanted Harrison to kill Dexter as poetic justice, it still could have been done in a second season after some time together. Another problem is that Dex has always stuck to his code so cleanly, and this season he was just too sloppy and too willing to deviate. After 10 years of restraining himself enough to not kill *at all,* now he's going to go that far off the rails into killing the coach?
As careful as Dex is, he could have eased Harrison into things better, too. He went from talking to him and saying he just scares bad guys to taking him down to let Harrison watch him kill Kurt without enough explanation. How long did it take him to do that with Lumen? To let Hannah in? To keep his darkness from Lila?
We all knew Dexter had to die, but this just... wasn't enough. Not satisfying enough. Harrison did too much of a 180. He blames his darkness on Dex at the end, but they spent the whole season convincing us that he was messed up because of Trinity, and copied Trinity's razor. It was heavily implied that he had done terrible things in foster care.
It just feels too rushed, especially at only 10 episodes.

I'm very upset, I can't believe what they have done here. No more Dexter, then why the hell would I watch the show again. We all rooted for Dexter, I just can't believe it. Ruined a totally good thing, why couldn't they just leave well enuff alone. Predictable and crap ending. I knew when he first gave that rifle to Harrison, it was going to be Chekhov's gun. The series in general was blah. It would've been more interesting if Harrison has turned out to be some psycho kid who assumed Harrison's identity. Why kill off Dexter? There are so many other stories to be told: the big reveal about Kurt, bringing Cody and Astor back, Angel and the Bay Harbor Butcher details revisited, etc. etc. etc.
We who loved the original series are not pleased.

This was so good, until the finale. Here are some of my problems... Harrison is so mad about Dexter's letter. Did you leave because you saw darkness in me? He asks this early in the season, distraught... but that letter that we hear at the end, in NO way could be interpreted that way. That letter clearly states that Dexter is the one with darkness, and how much he cares about his son and wants him to live a happy normal life. There's no reason for him to have been all twisted up about it.
Next, they could have easily, easily, easily roped us into several seasons by doing one simple thing: letting Dexter and Harrison hunt together for a while. This season could have ended with them escaping together, and then the next season with Dexter mentoring Harrison. THEN Dexter could be killed by another serial killer, a worthy adversary (Kurt certainly wouldn't have been satisfying enough), and Harrison could have avenged him. Then we would have maybe been invested enough in Harrison to continue with him as lead.
That's what everyone has always wanted since his brother Brian at the very beginning - for him to find another killer he could truly connect with and hunt with. That's what we all wanted to see... but time and time again it was denied. Every time someone could get sort of close to the real him, it was snatched away for one reason or another. This was our opportunity to really get that out, and with the one person that would have made Dex feel really human, his son.

Worse way to end it... The reason the original series was getting worse and started to lose fans was because Dexter started killing innocent and good people. It always felt like 2 different writers fighting over the true personality of Dexter then (Cunning, Calculated, & Careful Dexter who has a sickness and needs to kill but only kills bad ppl & Irresponsible Impulsive Dexter) and the wrong writer won last time...history clearly repeated itself.
The whole reason we loved Dexter is because as twisted as he was, he had a code that supported him killing those who deserved it---making us, the fans, able to live vicariously through the show, feeling liberated and justified. I knew the show was going to end terribly the moment Dex killed Logan...We love Dex because in some twisted way, he genuinely cared about people...that's why he faked his death in the first place! To free the people he cared about from himself...There were soooooo many ways they couldve written this end. I was honestly hoping that Angela was going to find the missing girls on her own and then come to the conclusion that Dex had nothing to do with Matt and her focus would turn towards Kurt and that Dex + Harrison moves to LA.
Why even tease us at all...why tease us with the possibility of Baptista and why tease us with Dex + Harrison moving to LA to form a serial vigilante team just to crush it all in the same episode....TRASH WRITING THROUGH AND THROUGH---LAZINESS AT IT'S FINEST.

I feel like the show strayed pretty far from its roots. The first season shows you that even though Dexter does bad things, he cares about other people, as disconnected from those emotions as he is. This final episode seemed completely divorced from that. Dexter did not care about Logan, Angela, or even Harrison at the end?? We have seen Dexter successfully choke hold people many times where they pass out but don't die. Why would he ask Logan for the keys? Just make him pass out and take them. When Harrison says the only way he can have a relationship with Dex is in prison, he had an opportunity for personal growth to turn himself in, but no suddenly the son he desperately killed out of code for isn't worth it? What?? Dexter as a show thrived on its sense of whimsy and dark humor. Emphasis on the humor. Dexter goes to prison might have had a sort of humor and poetic justice, Dexter can finally be himself and tell people who he really is. I could see them going through with the electric chair and all his old friends (previous kills) coming to join him at the end. Or dark Dexter able to finally let all his violent tendencies out in prison - everyone always picking fights with him. Or maybe finally showing everything hidden and unknown would allow him to shed the dark passenger for good. Or maybe he gets caught for someone ELSE's crime - the irony. Episode 9 was great, felt like the spirit of Dexter, then 10 was like just kidding ur supposed to hate Dexter, he is BAD.

I hated it too! There is a thing about watching Dexter that is just entertaining- even though you know he is a serial killer. It was off to a really good start, but the finale super tanked. You need to understand that Harrison does not have the raw charisma that Dexter does. You might be able to age Harrison and replace the actor. I might watch that. Especially if you go back to a warm climate and give us a few of the original Dexterisms…

There were definitely more countless ways to end this. Saying Dexter couldn't just get caught and re-caught after getting out of it is just taking the easy way out, lazy at best. That's why great book writers challenge themselves to keep writing, not say that "I'm done with telling crime investigation books because I've sold too many". Like another fan said, we love Dexter because of Dexter...the thrill is in the chase. We don't get tired of superman saving people or the world even. We don't get tired of detectives solving crimes, why would any fan get tired of Dexter doing the same thing in his own way? There's nothing else like it so it would have been one more thing the world needs still. But I'm sure some of us would settle for a Harrison storyline where Dexter does stay to guide him like how his dad and sister did.

I was so excited with the idea of Dexter & Harrison moving to LA, I loved the show because of the heat was a great setting with vibrant colors and jokes here and there.
I first discovered the show a year ago & fell in love, a new season popped up & I was sooo excited but, now that Dexter is dead I don't feel like watching it anymore.
Why????? At least turn him into Deb for Harrison so we can still have Dexter. Maybe even have Deb & Dexter collaborating together & talking like old times. :/

So I just binge watched all 9 seasons because everyone told me how great it was and yes I fell in love with the show and then I just wanted Dexter New blood in one day and I totally get the ending and that it was a mutual understanding between Harrison and Dexter that he needed to be shot. I think Harrison is torn now because Dexter did break the code..... For a second time I might add. But Harrison really bonded with his coach and everyone there so he finally fit in and felt something. Now I think he is on a roller coaster for emotions having to leave but will he end up being like his dad and using the code? It would be very interesting to see a spin off. It was a sad ending that's for sure.

While the original ending of the Series was a mess. This “New Blood” ending was a mess too. Perhaps worse, as every “Fan” had put Dexter in the rearview mirror...Only to be disappointed again!If Miami Metro and the FBI could not figure out Dexter in 7 seasons...AGAIN there is no way a small time Sheriff (Angela) would tie Jim to Dexter, to Miami, to the Bay Harbor Butcher.ESPECIALLY if she had a Serial Killer living in her 2000 people town for 25 years killing over 30 women and she literally had no leads...but yeah, she instantly solves a crime form Miami 1000 miles away! Also, since she only saw “Jim” as a lover and sweet human being for 3 years before. In a weeks time, she turns on him? Completely unbelievable.Also, HUGE production guffaw! Dexter you used M99 in Miami. In Iron Lake, he used Ketamine. So no correlation? Just a needle mark? That is like saying, well in Los Angeles, a serial killer used to shoot people in the head...and here in Iron Lake, the killer also shot them in the head? Ridiculous attempt at tying them in!Why was Angel in even the finale? Waste! I think they wanted to show that Dexter finally learned what love was? However, Dexter already knew that, when he sent Harrison and Hannah way 10 years prior...and the letter explaining it! As an aside, does that not F-up your Son worse if you make him kill you? Kill yourself!So funny, how us Fans are angry all over again and they blew it!

I am so upset at this really bad ending, I actually cried. To have Harrison kill his dad was ridiculous. I prefer the last ending of Dexter at least we new he was alive. I was hoping for more seasons but that’s not gonna happen now. Absolutely the worst ending.

why is everyone so mad and angry and dissing the finale season just because of the ending. Yes, I'm upset Dexter got killed but I still think this season was amazing, superb and super good!!! I will miss Dexter for sure and wish he wasn't killed but I'm sorry but I disagree with countless comments here saying the ending was worthless...The whole season was great and so was the ending (full of twists and turns!)

We are angry because Dexter didn’t deserve this. He saved Harrison from Kurt, just like a good dad should, and pro tip….a good son should never kill his dad. Unless it was by accident on the log flume at great adventure, and even then, you’ll still need years of therapy and a year doing Ayauaska with a Peruvian shaman to be right in the head again. But if that’s the future you want for Harrison, toiling in the jungle, spitting out mosquitoes in a poorly lit tent, with a barf bag and bad flashbacks to keep him company, you are a better man than I.

I thought at least he’d turn it on Matt’s father or confess and there would be a nationwide media grandstand as one of the most notorious serial killers. Who will take out the bad guys now? Harrison is like yogurt. His kid taking him out is unrealistic. Lazy writing, lame ending. Also, if he chopped up Matt, wouldn’t he gave seen the plate/scar?

I used to really enjoy the show until I found out that all of the singers that doing the blind auditions had already been heard before hand. Then when it was their turn to go on and play the game like the judges had not heard them sing before, they were told what song to sing. Totally blew me away. So I guess the winner is rigged as well. American Idol uses the same tactics, we used to look forward to watching, not anymore. It was fun while it lasted .

I was disappointed, but I have seen other shows where the person pretends to be dead and somehow is revived usually by some previously planned event is it possible that Dexter had a vest on that was filled with blood but would still stop a bullet from killing him while taking a medication that would make him appear to be dead?
That's what I'm hoping for.

I wanted Dexter to be released after giving up kurt.......and the bay harbor butcher be put inthe background for awhile... that way Dexter could go on helping Harrison adapt....and even may be go back to only killing bad guys as they turn up. I disagree with all of you…here’s why: and YES, I’m a die hard Dexter fan as well. But really it could NOT have ended better. There were no more “nearly” caught scenarios or go-to “gotcha” favorites to pull from. There was just no way out of this that would’ve been believable in any sense of the word. It’s not like Angela would ever ever trust him again on any level even if he didn’t get indicted for Matt’s death. That relationship was nil and over any way you look at it. There’s no coming back even after being acquitted for manslaughter, much less after murder charges in a town the size of Iron Lake- population 2,700. Nope. No way. Guilty by association. At minimum, the fact that he hid his true identity as Dexter Morgan and pretended to be Jim Lindsey, buys him a golden invitation to pack up and get the hell out of our town. The third outcome was Angela sharing her theories about Dexter being the BHB and getting Batista to consider the possibility that he was responsible for Maria’s death and extraditing him back to the state of Florida where the death penalty reigns supreme for wife murderers and serial killers alike.
Nope .. I think this was the BEST way to end it. In Harrison’s F’d up head, he somehow vindicated his Mother’s death since he blamed Dexter for everything.
This was really the only way out for Dexter. NONE of us could have handled seeing Dex locked up and there’d be No show if he was anyway. There were no other even semi-believable options.

the ending doesn't make sense not in anyway here's why if someone robbed you and you feel bad because you've been robbed would you do it to someone else? harrison is not a psychopath when he almost died to kurt in no way the ending is justified to end like this it could have ended way more better there are endless possibilities for the ending this was the worst, a series involving a serial killer requires a lot of knowledge about Psychology if they wanted to end up killing Dexter in a way that was justified Required a better way and solution.
you liked the ending the way it was and I have nothing against that but saying it could have not been done better it's why I'm shocked by your review.

Kaj se vam je čisto zmešalo? Uničili ste serijo total! Do season finale je bilo super....kdo si je to zaključno bedarijo izmislil? Dali bi še 2 epizodi kjer bi se soočil z Batisto (zakaj ste ga sploh vključili????). Angela je bila 10 let z njim rešil ji je dilemo umorov tako, da tudi njene odločitve bi morale biti vprašljive za njo. Logana bi samo uspaval ne pa ubil ker ni v skladu s kodo in sin, ki je oboževal očeta ga ubije ker bi želel biti normalen? Kdo je zdaj tu normalen? Scriptwriter sure not! Kretenski zaključek.

We would give 2 more episodes where he would face Batista (why did you include him at all ????). Angela has been with him for 10 years and he has solved her murder dilemma so even her decisions should be questionable for her. Would you just put Logan to sleep, rather than kill him because this is not in line with the code(8 season Dexter didn't break the code, he would rather die) and the son who adored his father, kill him because he wanted to be normal? Who is normal here now? Scriptwriter sure not! Lame conclusion.

Perfect ending. Harrison, the young actor, could get a great following as a scary good guy. Not a killer. Death sentence or end it quickly. Dexter can be his ghost if they continue the story. Harrison did his dad a favor. Nowhere left to go.
