Tim Kring on the Future of ‘Heroes’: “There Is More To Come”
Tim Kring isn’t ready to throw in the Heroes towel.
The series creator tells TV Insider that although Heroes Reborn won’t be back after this season, he still has eyes on revisiting the franchise again, with other new stories.
“I know word has been circulating that Heroes Reborn has been ‘canceled,’” Kring said in a statement sent to TV Insider. “But I want to assure you that tonight’s finale is exactly the ending we’ve had planned from the very beginning. I’ve also stated that if there was going to be more story, it would not be part of Heroes Reborn, but rather some future volume with a brand new story.”

At the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this month, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt told reporters that ending Heroes Reborn after one cycle “was always the plan unless (creator) Tim (Kring) woke up one day and said ‘I have another chapter to tell’… As far as I know there are no more incarnations of Heroes coming.”
But in a new statement, Greenblatt is now also keeping the possibility open of eventually visiting the show again.

“The door remains open for future installments of this beloved series from creator/executive producer Tim Kring,” Greenblatt says in a statement supplied to TV Insider.
The new comments are timed to tonight’s Heroes Reborn finale. Kring says that Heroes Reborn ends with enough loose ends that could turn into another series.
“I think you will see that tonight’s final episode clearly leaves the door open for us to tell more stories within the Heroes saga,” he says.

“I want to sincerely thank all of our fantastic Heroes Reborn fans for watching our latest volume. Our entire team here couldn’t be more thrilled that you are going to finally get to see the series finale tonight — the biggest episode ever in the Heroes saga to date. I’ve said from the beginning that Heroes Reborn would be 13 episodes long, with a beginning, middle and end. I know word has been circulating that Heroes Reborn has been ‘canceled,’ but I want to assure you that tonight’s finale is exactly the ending we’ve had planned from the very beginning. I’ve also stated that if there was going to be more story, it would not be part of Heroes Reborn, but rather some future volume with a brand new story. Let me just say clearly for the record — the ‘Heroes’ universe is designed to be large and multi-platformed. ‘Heroes Reborn’ alone now includes six novellas, a series of comic books from Titan Publishing, and our two new games GEMINI – Heroes Reborn (on Xbox now, releasing on all other console and PC platforms next week) and Heroes Reborn ENIGMA (available on mobile and tablet). I think you will see that tonight’s final episode clearly leaves the door open for us to tell more stories within the Heroes saga. I might be in the minority but I like heroes reborn I mean it wasn't perfect but it was just as good as season four of the original heroes. I would love to see more from this universe but I think next time they should go with a completely fresh start set it in the same universe but no overlap in characters... the company and maybe the young heroes from the original series but none of the adults and no one from reborn...

I'm so frustrated with this series right now. Seriously, what the heck happened? This was one of the funnest shows I knew growing up, and it's turned into one of the dumbest, most clichéd pieces of trash I've seen, and it breaks my heart to say that. I was waiting to see a satisfying conclusion to a show I felt never got that satisfying ending, and it has just crumbled down. They kill off half of the memorable characters, the new characters are bland and uninteresting, they throw in some prophecy or of nowhere, Heroes Reborn failed in almost every way. I reviewed it and showed no mercy.
Tim Kring should be ashamed of himself for this. I've never been so unexcited for this show. Quite frankly, I don't know if I'll watch a sequel series of it happens. It doesn't deserve a sequel series.

Tim Kring should just pack it up and become a manager for Big Lots or Dollar Tree. He ruins everything he starts. He's a hack. If I met him I'd punch him in the nose for tricking me into getting invested in shows that seem to have a heart that turn into slaughter fests. The dude is obsessed with serial killers and Harajuku girls.

We love Heroes, don't worry about the idiot harsh critics. Mostly harsh critics are online 24/7 commenting on pages like this, but 7 million were glued to this and watched the finale for a reason. True fans understand that it was meant to be 1 season and have a definite ending so I'm not mad. I understand that it all had to fit in 1 season on a network like NBC

Heroes Reborn, in my simple guessing, was more like a Nickelodeon series than a Heroes one. Not only because the lot of kids but for the few drama and fear of death. In the Heroes season 1 Finale (How to Stop an Exploding Man) you can see that no one there was ready for what happened, I mean in a very bigger way than this one, Everyone thought that Sylar was going to kill everybody but the big destruction was an accident, nothing more and yet was very important to stop the future threats. It was very like a Season one of a theorical Justice League series or Avengers series, Stan Lee level. This one (Reborn) would have been made by iCarly team (I am talking about Carly, Sam and Fred, not Steven Schneider). Maybe because I was expecting so much, I couldn't see "The Cheerleader" neither Peter Pretrelli and the death of Hiro Nakamura itself is a Time Rift since this would make "Future Hiro" never coming back to speak to Peter Petrelli about the paintings of that drugged painter(forgot his name), this would destroy the classic series from season one. But that thing about the twin's father made me curious, who could be so powerful that would make Angela Petrelli fear for her life? I would like to see the end of the story.
P.S.: If someone knows where Gemini fits in the main series I would be grateful.

The Hiro Nakamora that traveled back in time to tell Peter to save the cheerleader was from a timeline where the bomb did go off in New York City. Once the bomb was stopped the future was changed and a new timeline was created. So by him dying in heroes reborn it doesn't ruin the storyline of heroes.

I agree his death does not ruin the story But there are some things in heroes the original series that don't make sense to me. For example in season 1 Mohinders father is looking for people with abilities. His co-worker in India is calling him crazy for thinking these people exist. Than in season 4 when they flash back to 1961 Mohinders father is running some kind of camp for people with abilities that's where the carnival guy that can control the earth is born. This does not add up becuase how could he have run this camp full of people with abilities than later in life he is searching for proof of there existence and everyone thinks he is nuts. This doesn't make sense to me does anyone have an explanation for this or know what I'm not seeing.

It was cancelled or something so long as the fill in the gap between heros and heros reborn I'm fine with it, otherwise it would be more like a political drama trying to work out living together with each other,... my problem is that they killed clare right off the bat and we don't even know who she married

Maybe because it was classified project, honestly just guessing but when I watched the show on Netflix when I finished season 2 it said "end if volume 3" and same with 3 and 4 and they gibe us a preview of "volume 5" and then it cuts off...that's dumb imo

Claire was actually only killed off right away because the girl who played her originally was/is currently busy with other acting jobs and wouldn't come back to the show. And I believe they explain who Tommy and Malina's dad is in one of the books (haven't read them myself but from what I understand it's a guy nicknamed Hammer who mysteriously vanished?). Aside from that though, ya, I'd really like any future series to explain what happened between Heroes and Heroes Reborn. Or maybe just a bonus episode for Heroes Reborn where they explain a few things from the finale. I seriously want to know if Matt died under that bridge, if Hiro died, if Hiro left Mohinder to die at the peace summit, and what the heck happened to Peter & Sylar because they're not mentioned once.
