‘Love Is Blind’: Inside Wilnie & Wilson’s Love Triangle, Malaine’s Exit & More
Love triangles have been the name of the game on Season 11 of Love Is Blind. For Wilson Monteiro, the choice between Wilnie Louis and Malaine Thorpe was complicated by Malaine’s early exit from the pods.
While Wilson and Wilnie got engaged in the pods, fans couldn’t help but question whether Wilson still would have proposed to Wilnie if Malaine had still been in the picture. To weigh in on Malaine’s ghosting and their future together, Wilnie and Wilson sat down with Swooon for an exclusive interview.
According to Wilson, he shared a “pretty deep connection” with Malaine during the first part of the season. He shared, “We related on so many things, like cultural similarities, [our] upbringings [were] similar, the way we wanted to raise our family, and stuff like that. So I think I did see a future with her.”
That said, her leaving without telling him told him everything he needed to know about their relationship. “I think that’s something that she needed to do for herself,” he said. However, when asked whether he would have asked her to stay longer, he shared, “I don’t think I’m that type of person. If someone has decided to make that decision and not consult with me — and not that she necessarily needs to consult — but I think we could have had that conversation. Once she decided to make that decision for herself, I was fine with it… This experiment is unique, so there’s no blueprint for how to do it.”
On the other hand, Wilnie appeared to be in the room when Malaine decided to leave. For that reason, it was Wilnie who told Wilson his other connection had exited the pods. According to Wilnie, Malaine’s departure was a little different from what we saw on screen. “Thinking back, I wasn’t necessarily in the room when [Malaine] was leaving,” Wilnie confirmed. “I was on a date with Wilson, and we had like a little bathroom break. I walked through, and I had heard that Malaine left.”
So, how did this complicate Wilnie and Wilson’s connection? As Wilnie put it, “It was important for him to have made a choice between her and I, and the fact that he didn’t… It was difficult.” She added, “I would have preferred that he did, but I still knew that he was somebody that I loved, and I knew that he loved me. So, I felt like moving forward [together] was an important thing for both of us to do for ourselves.”

Now that they’ve officially locked in on each other, Wilnie and Wilson teased what is to come during their trip to Mexico and their time back in Boston. Wilnie shared, “I think we have a lot of important conversations. We had such a strong emotional connection, and we pride ourselves in being honest with each other, so lots of honest conversations, lots of fun, a lot of silly moments for sure.
Similarly, Wilson said, “Wilnie’s an amazing person. We have a lot of fun together. We connect on so many levels, but you’re gonna have to tune in to figure out exactly how that relationship develops.”
