Television actress Kat Foster was born in Oakland, California on May 17, 1978 and studied acting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While in New York, she was very active in the theater world and won Best Actress at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival for her performance in The Final Countdown. After a number guest spots on shows including "Law and Order" (NBC, 1990-2010) and "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC, 2001-2011), Foster landed a starring role on the situation comedy "'Til Death" (Fox 2006-2010). As half of a pair of newlyweds who move in next door to a couple married for 25 years, played by Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher, Foster played the free spirit newlywed Steph Woodcock, learning from her more experienced neighbors and trying to make a success of her new marriage to an uptight husband. Foster's comic prowess was given room to shine, but the show struggled to consistently pull an audience. After two seasons, a retooling of the show's premise led to Foster and her on-air husband's exit from the series. After "'Til Death," Foster worked consistently in TV, with multi-episode arcs on the cult comedy-drama "Weeds" (Showtime, 2005-2012), and the cable hit "Royal Pains" (USA, 2009-), as well as co-starring roles on the short-lived sitcoms "The Goodwin Games" (Fox, 2013) and "Bad Teacher" (CBS, 2014).
