J.J. Feild is a British/American actor who has enjoyed a rich and diverse career across many different mediums, from prestigious British TV to the Marvel Cinematic Universe before landing his big break in a charming Netflix sitcom. Born in 1978 in Boulder, CO, Feild was the son of an American mother and an English father, writer and musician Reshad Feild.

When he was still an infant, the family moved to London. Feild's parents divorced a few years later, and both remarried (his stepfather was Jon Williams, editor of BBC World News). Feild went on to study acting at two prestigious London schools: the Fine Arts College and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.

He landed his first TV gig in 1999, appearing in an episode of the police procedural "Heartbeat" (ITV, 1992-2010). Feild then went on to make his first film appearance in the indie drama "Last Orders" (2001). He would spend the next few years working with filmmakers as diverse as action auteur Kathryn Bigelow on the Russian submarine thriller "K-19: The Widowmaker" (2002) and eccentric iconoclast Peter Greenaway, playing the title character in his multi-part film/multimedia project: "The Tulse Luper Suitcases, Part 1: The Moab Story" (2003), "The Tulse Luper Suitcases, Part 2: Vaux to the Sea" (2004), and "The Tulse Luper Suitcases, Part 3: From Sark to the Finish" (2004), as well as a companion film, "A Life in Suitcases" (2005).

Feild next stepped into the world of Agatha Christie, appearing as Simon Doyle in the "Death on the Nile" episode of "Agatha Christie's Poirot" (ITV, 1989-2013). He then took on the part of Fred Garland in the TV adaptation of Philip Pullman's dark fantasy novel "The Ruby in the Smoke" (PBS, 2006), a role he would later reprise for a sequel, "The Shadow in the North" (2007), before taking a turn into Jane Austen territory, playing Henry Tilney in a TV film of her novel "Northanger Abbey" (ITV, 2007).

Meanwhile, on film, Feild played early rock n' roll star Heinz (you know, the German bass player!) in the Joe Meek biopic "Telstar" (2009), before making a foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing James Montgomery Falsworth in "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011). He next co-starred in the BBC adaptation of Sarah Waters' WWII thriller "The Night Watch" (2011), before appearing in a much more modern take on Jane Austin, vis a vis the romantic comedy "Austenland" (2013).

Feild would spend the next two years playing Major John André in the Revolutionary War espionage series "Turn: Washington's Spies" (AMC, 2014-17), before appearing in the anthology series "The Romanoffs" (Amazon, 2018-). Feild could next be seen playing engineer Roy Lunn in the dramatic biopic "Ford vs. Ferrari" (2019), and alongside Idris Elba and Piper Perabo on the sitcom "Turn Up Charlie" (Netflix, 2019-).
