10 Worst ‘Real Housewives’ Ripoffs Ever

VH1 couldn’t very well call a series The Real Ex-Wives of Hollywood, so instead we got this forgettable reality show about famous folks’ onetime partners, whose names might be familiar only to those who pore over gossip rags. (Guilty!)

This Bravo reality show featured millennial women clawing, fighting, and snark-ing their way to the top of the Big Apple art world. Assuming the network isn’t intending for us to consider this show a Real Housewives of New York City origin story, it just feels derivative.

A ripoff of both Real Housewives and Emily in Paris? C’est vrai! But this show about American expats in the City of Lights went dark after just 10 episodes. Au revoir!

If you were looking for a realistic, thoughtful portrait of Iranian Americans living in the Los Angeles area, well, look elsewhere. Here, the “affluencers” get into vapid, Real Housewives-style drama that isn’t as interesting as the H’wives’ conflicts.

Imagine Real Housewives if the housewives were married to the mob, and you have Mob Wives. On Real Housewives, criminal allegations only run in some of the families, but otherwise, it’s a similar vibe.

For a mercifully-short nine-episode run, Lifetime took us into the world of “competitive mothering” in which a “perfectly coiffed and manicured clique will stop at nothing to one-up each other.” So… it’s like Real Housewives with an even greater chance of hefty therapy bills.

These wives’ lives may be fabulous — if taking a Rolls-Royce to go shopping does it for you — but this Netflix production was not. It’s an uninspired reheating of the Housewives formula, with lifestyles likely only relatable to India’s one-percenters.

Why Bravo didn’t just call this show The Real Housewives of London is beyond us — the format is practically identical. So identical, in fact, that when The Real Housewives of London did come along, Ladies of London’s Juliet Angus made the leap.

If the Real Housewives franchise isn’t MAGA enough for you, perhaps you tuned into the reality show that had TV critics proposing drinking games for mentions of Mar-a-Lago. We’re just worried Netflix is planning future Members Only editions…

With a title that doesn’t even make sense — is it supposed to be a pun? — Bravo wasn’t even trying to deny the Real Housewives ripoff accusations. The network even described the cast as a “tight-knit, ultra-wealthy group of friends and rivals who know everything about each other.” Sound familiar?
