‘Wednesday’ Is Here: Our Ranking of the ‘Addams Family’ Films & TV Series

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re coming back to tee-vee — the Addams family!

With genre-TV faves Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) as creators and Tim Burton (Beetlejuice) in the director’s chair, the new show Wednesday tells a different kind of Addams Family story, a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy,” as Netflix says.

Jenna Ortega plays the eponymous teen as she “attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore,” the streaming service adds.

Better yet, the Wednesday cast even includes Christina Ricci, who played the character in two big-screen movies. “Nobody stands out from the crowd like Wednesday Addams,” Gough told TV Insider in September. “What really sets the show apart is that Addams Family humor.”

So where does the series rank among other adaptations of Charles Addams’ cartoons? Here’s how we’d rank all the film and TV efforts, from the delightfully kooky to the altogether ooky.
