‘The Gilded Age’ Season 4 Behind-the-Scenes Photos Reveal New Characters
The Gilded Age will soon wrap filming Season 4, set to premiere this fall on HBO. The cast has posted photos from the set throughout the season, including a video reaction to their eight Emmy nominations announced on July 8 (see below). Here, we’ve compiled The Gilded Age Season 4 behind-the-scenes photos that the stars have posted on Instagram, which reveal three new characters debuting this season.
In The Gilded Age Season 4, Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) forges a new path for herself, and Peggy (Denée Benton) works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.

The Gilded Age always pulls from history for its storylines each season. While the historical events of Season 4 haven’t been officially revealed, photos from a day of filming in lower Manhattan earlier this summer imply that the arrival of the Statue of Liberty will be a big moment. Scully plays Lee Klein, an artist who sells his first painting at an unforgettable Society event and an apprentice to the famed artist William Merritt Chase.
Jacobson’s BTS photos included a shot of the fake facial hair for William Merritt Chase and J.P. Morgan (Bill Camp). The actor playing William Merritt Chase is still a mystery.
Jacobson’s post also included the facial hair for John D. Rockefeller, to be played by Neal Huff.
Jacobson shared a shot of Richardson, her on-screen love interest.
Amy Forsyth (Caroline Astor) and Maggie Kuntz chill on set between takes in another photo from Jacobson.
Kuntz plays a new character this season, Fiona Summers, cousin to the prominent Astors. Fiona is a free-spirited young woman from a good family who is not afraid to explore the limits of convention.
Donna Murphy (Mrs. Astor) posted a glamorous selfie on July 30 to commemorate her last day of filming on Season 4. She was on the set of Mrs. Astor’s house.
