“With #The100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last,” creator and showrunner Jason Rothenberg shared. “We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. On Sunday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the CW announced that The 100, based on Kass Morgan’s novels, will be ending with its seventh season.

The news came just days ahead of the Season 6 finale (airing Tuesday, August 6), and according to network president Mark Pedowitz, it was showrunner Jason Rothenberg’s decision. “We have been very good at listening to our showrunners and creators about when is the right time to end a series so we spoke to Jason earlier in the week, we said, ‘We hear you. We agree with you,'” he said.
