Gotham actress Reed takes on the lead female role in the series as Abby Arcane, a woman who begins investigating what she thinks is a swamp-born virus.
Alec Holland (Andy Bean)
Power‘s Bean will take on the role of Alec, a biologist who transforms into the show’s title character.
Sheriff Lucilia Cable (Jennifer Beals)
The Flashdance star plays the strong-willed Sheriff of Marais, who will do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves.
Bog Monster (Derek Mears)
Known for playing dark roles, Mears will take on the monster persona as he tries to retain any shred of his humanity to protect those around him.
Liz Tremayne (Maria Sten)
Sten’s character is best friends with Abby and works as both a reporter and bartender.
Madam Xanadu (Jeryl Prescott)
Played by Prescott, Madam Xanadu is a mysterious fortune teller who is both blind and able to see the future.
Maria Sunderland (Virginia Madsen)
As the wife of a prominent Marais business man, Madsen’s Maria will be drawn to the swamp due to grief over her daughter’s death.
Avery Sunderland (Will Patton)
Husband to Maria, Patton’s Avery is Marais’ main guy. The businessman is always providing for his community which hides his hunger for power.
DC Universe’s next series Swamp Thing is beginning to take shape as many of the characters have been cast.
We’ve learned that biologist Alec Holland, who turns into the titular bog monster, will be played by two different people. Bean, who is best known for his role in Starz’s Power, will play Alec, while Friday the 13th reboot star Mears will take on the monster.
