See Ellen Pompeo & Jodie Whitaker on ‘Chicks’ Set

Production on the pilot for Chicks is now underway in New York City, and thanks to area photographers, we have a first look at what’s ahead for the Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whitaker-led series hopeful.

In a series of images from the set, the duo can be seen together, grappling with a number of difficulties — including at least one dead body.

Chicks was conceptualized by Good American Family executive producer Katie Robbins, who reportedly came up with the concept after working with Pompeo on that limited series. In it, Pompeo stars as the titular Chickie, while Whitaker portrays her half-sister Doreen.

The series’ description tells us, “The show follows Chickie (Pompeo) and Doreen (Whittaker), two estranged half-sisters who are both struggling to get by when their wise guy dad unexpectedly kicks the bucket. Their only inheritance is a legacy of two-bit crime that inspires them to run increasingly audacious frauds. As their con grows, so does their odd-couple bond, as they each start to fill the father-shaped hole in the other’s heart.”
