Outlander is making way for new characters in the July 7 episode of Starz’s hit series. Izzy Meikle-Small and Joey Phillips join the mix as Hunter siblings Rachel and Denzell in “A Most Uncomfortable Woman.”

Their entrance is teased in photos from the installment, which the stars were eager to preview on the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival for TV Insider. The author who dreamed up the entire world, Diana Gabaldon, offers, as a taste of what viewers can anticipate from Rachel and Denzell, “They’re perfect, they’re absolutely perfect. Both together and singularly. They’re Quakers, they’re very firm in their faith, but they’re very understandable, approachable, nice people.”

That will be needed when they’re treating patients as Phillips reveals, “Denzell is a Quaker surgeon.” By his side is sister Rachel, who is causing quite a stir this season among some familiar characters. “She [kind of comes into] the series in quite a chaotic, action-packed way,” Meikle-Small teases, noting that when she meets the Frasers, “it changes the course of her life, really.”

While the means of their introduction remains a mystery until the July 7 episode, the installment’s logline teases that, while on the way to Scotland, Jamie (Sam Heughan) is pulled back into the Revolutionary War, and at the same time William (Charles Vandervaart) is sent on a covert mission. Meanwhile, back in the 1980s, Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) continue to struggle as they adapt to their lives.

Although Phillips and Meikle-Small couldn’t share specifics about their introduction, they could preview what’s to come for the new characters as the seventh season plays out on Starz. “Their entrance to the show is quite dramatic,” Phillips teases. “We meet some characters already in the show, and that’s a real turning point for them.”

While Denny becomes more involved with the fight for freedom, Meikle-Small says, “We see her become a woman, she’s a bit cheeky and flirty. She has a really interesting love story,” hinting at a love-triangle dynamic book readers may be familiar with.

As fans await their arrival, get a peek at the Hunters with the photos, below, which also teases a harrowing journey for William, and a new path for Jamie, Claire, and Ian (John Bell).
