‘One of Us Is Lying’ Season 2 Trailer: Simons Says Gets Deadly in Teen Murder Mystery (VIDEO)
Peacock’s One of Us Is Lying Season 2 has arrived with an all-new trailer. Premiering all eight episodes on October 20, fans of the Karen McManus book, on which the series is based, get a look at the high-stakes game of Simon Says the group must endure in the Season 2 trailer above.
“Following the heart-pounding conclusion of Season 1, the Bayview Four have a very deadly secret,” the logline teases. “In Season 2, we’ll see just how far they’ll go to protect their secret, themselves, and each other.” One of Us Is Lying stars Marianly Tejada (“Bronwyn”), Chibuikem Uche (“Cooper”), Annalisa Cochrane (“Addy”), Cooper van Grootel (“Nate”), Jess McLeod (“Janae”), Melissa Collazo (“Maeve”), Sara Thompson (“Vanessa”), and Alimi Ballard (“Kevin”).
In Season 1, the characters started out as Breakfast Club archetypes, but after witnessing a classmate die and becoming suspects in his murder, they were forced to become more honest about who they are and what they want. The teens stood up to their controlling parents, came out of the closet, said goodbye to toxic relationships, dealt with the stresses of college applications, and on top of all of that, solved a murder.
Writer/showrunner/executive producer Erica Saleh shared a statement about what to expect in One of Us Is Lying Season 2 in tandem with the trailer’s release on September 27.
“In Season 2, we continue this surprising emotional journey as our kids reckon with the thrill and fear of showing the world who they really are… while hiding a deadly secret and being tortured by the mysterious Simon Says. And we have a ton of juicy, soapy fun while we do it!” she said. “The most important thing to me in writing a show for teenage audiences, is to put smart, complex, authentic characters on screen, and to take their emotions seriously. Being a teenager is thrilling, and it’s also terrifying. Figuring out who you are, and what you want is confusing and it can feel so so lonely. My greatest hope is that seeing this show will make our young audience feel more seen and less alone — and that it will make them laugh, cry, and scream at the same time.”
Darío Madrona, John Sacchi, and Matt Groesch of 5 More Minutes Productions, Jan Oxenberg, Molly Nussbaum, and Bill Johnson serve as executive producers, with Michael Weaver as EP and director. Directors include Shannon Kohli, Roxanne Benjamin, and Ben Semanoff. The series is a production of UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
