‘For All Mankind’ Sneak Peek: Ed Baldwin Confronts Dev With Devastating News (VIDEO)
Ed Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman) has never been afraid to stand up for what he believes in, and after the arrest of Lee Jung-Gil (C.S. Lee), he’s taking his concerns straight to the top in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek at this week’s new episode of For All Mankind.
The episode, titled “The Hard Six,” finds Ed speaking out in support of Lee after he’s detained and faces being sent back to Earth for trial.
Not only does he think Dev (Edi Gathegi) owes Lee for everything he has, but he also fears for Lee’s safety if he were sent back … and for good reason.
“If Lee gets sent to Earth, he’s a dead man,” Ed says. “You remember what happened to Svetlana Zakharova when they sent her back to Earth to stand trial in India.”
“I remember. She hung herself in a jail cell,” Dev replies.
“No, she did not,” Ed insists. “She’d never do that. Soviets had her killed. And if Lee gets sent to Earth, the North Koreans will do the same to him.”
This is a devastating update for the character, who was alive at the end of Season 4 after the cosmonaut was sent to what was supposed to be a fair trial in a neutral M-7 nation after she accidentally killed Vasily Galkin, the nephew of a politician in Moscow. Ed had, of course, intimate feelings for her as well, so it’s clear he’s taken the news very personally.
Even so, it seems Dev won’t budge to protect Lee, arguing, “He didn’t do [the Goldilocks asteroid capture] for me. He did it for himself and his wife.”
Dev then argues that his true focus is on making Meru, his plan for a self-sustaining habitat for Martians to thrive in.
“Meru will be a beacon of freedom for us all, but to build it, I need to be thinking three, four steps ahead, and if I give them any excuse, M6 will swoop down and take it away from us,” he warns.
Ed, however, is committed to his cause. “I, for one, will not abandon my friend.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Ed is successful in protecting Lee as the season continues! In the meantime, scroll down for first-look images of this week’s new episode below.
