‘FBI’ Sets Shantel VanSanten’s Return: What Brings Nina Back?

We’re going to see how Scola (John Boyd) and Nina (Shantel VanSanten) do working together as spouses in FBI Season 9.

TV Insider has learned that VanSanten will be guest starring as Special Agent Nina Chase in the seventh episode of the season, titled “Posterity” and airing on Monday, November 16. CBS has also released promotional photos from the episode of her working and Scola together in the field.

The photo of them above has us wondering what could be going on either in their personal lives or with the case for that expression on her face. Could the “big life change” that Scola will be dealing with in the November 2 episode involve Nina in same way?

In Posterity,” CBS teases, “After the murder of an online influencer, the team discovers that one of their cameras captured video of a criminal on the Most Wanted list. The team works alongside Special Agent Nina Chase (guest star Shantel VanSanten) to intercept him before he disappears.”

We’ll have to wait to see if we get an update on the rest of the Most Wanted team since if ever it’s going to be relevant to mention them, it will be with this case. (After recurring on FBI, VanSanten became a series regular on the spinoff.)

The last time that VanSanten was onscreen was for Scola and Nina’s wedding in Season 8.

“What’s interesting is when I was on Most Wanted and they would write these scenes of conflict, I think John and I were so excited to do those scenes because what’s on the other side of conflict is growth and repair,” VanSanten told us at the time. “And I would like to believe that’s why any audience member that likes Scola and Nina is invested in them is because we’ve seen them go through conflict, not always get along, not be a perfect cookie cutter, fairytale type relationship, but that there’s always repair and trust and it deepens their love through each challenge or case or getting pregnant and not knowing what comes next. And that’s kind of how life is. We don’t know what comes next, and we’re just one day at a time, one case at a time, and you make a choice to love one another and have the family and do the job.”
