NBC Orders New Comedies ‘Great News’ and ‘Marlon’

NBC is beefing up their comedy slate with two new orders.
From writer and executive producer Tracey Wigfield (30 Rock), Great News is an office comedy that tells the story of Katie, an up-and-coming news producer who discovers her overbearing mother has returned to the workforce as an intern at her station. The cast includes Briga Heelan, Andrea Martin, Adam Campbell, Kimrie Lewis-Davis, John Michael Higgins and Horatio Sanz. Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and David Miner also executive produce, with Beth McCarthy-Miller as director.
Marlon is loosely inspired by the real life of Marlon Wayans as a father co-parenting his two kids along with his ex-wife. Essence Atkins, Notlim Taylor, Amir O’Neil, Bresha Webb and Diallo Riddle star along with Wayans. Marlon is written and executive produced by Christopher Moynihan, with Wayans, Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg and pilot director Andy Ackerman also executive producing.
