Alicia Keys, John Legend and List of Star Performers Will Shine a Light on ‘Race in America’
Music’s biggest stars have banded together for a special concert, Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America, to kick off a campaign that addresses race issues and works toward effective change towards equality in the U.S.
A+E Networks will be airing a taped version of the live performance, held this past Wednesday at The Shrine Auditorium in L.A., in a two-hour special tomorrow night. Twenty artists will perform on stage, including Alicia Keys, John Legend, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Big Sean, Sia, Aloe Blacc, Pink, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Zac Brown Band, Jamie Foxx and Nick Jonas. And eight presenters at the concert include Nicki Minaj, Morgan Freeman, LL Cool J, Mario Lopez and George Lopez.
After the concert special, A&E (in conjunction with AOL.com) will air an one-hour documentary, Shining a Light: Conversations on Race in America, that shows Alicia Keys, John Legend and Pharrell Williams meeting residents in Baltimore, Ferguson and Charleston, the sites of recent racial unrest, while accompanied by famous journalists such as CNN’s Soledad O’Brien and NPR’s Michele Norris.
Check out the videos below from the all-star “Shining a Light” benefit performance. And, if you’re inspired to help with the campaign, you can donate to ShiningALightConcert.com, a part of the United Way’s Fund for Progress on Race in America.
