Greg Berlanti Develops Futuristic Skyscraper Drama ‘The Thousandth Floor’ for ABC
Greg Berlanti is scaling The Thousandth Floor for ABC.
Berlanti’s production company is partnering with Alloy Entertainment to develop the upcoming book series into a TV drama. Maggie Friedman (Dawson’s Creek) is writing and executive producing.
The drama centers on the world of a 1,000-story supertower on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in the year 2118. When a young woman falls from the 1,000th floor, a scandal develops among the top-floor elite vs. the bottom-floor drones.
Katherine McGee is the author behind The Thousandth Floor (her first book), which is set to be published by HarperTeen in 2017.
Warner Bros. TV is the studio, while Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo are also executive producers.
Besides Dawson’s, Berlanti and Friedman also worked together on Jack and Bobby. Friedman’s other credits include ABC’s Eastwick and Lifetime’s Witches of East End.
Berlanti currently has six shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Blindspot, The Mysteries of Laura) on three networks.
