‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Teaser Reveals Simone Griffith’s Pregnancy Woes & More

After the Season 23 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy closed out with a major pregnancy shocker for Simone Griffith (Alexis Floyd) — she quietly took a test, and it came out positive — the next order of business will be finding out who the father is.

In the teaser for next week’s episode, it looks like Benson “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.) will be the first to clock her pregnancy after catching her in the bathroom with morning sickness, and he asks whose baby Simone might be carrying: boyfriend Wes Bryant (Trevor Jackson) or her ex-turned-one-night-stand Lucas Adams (Niko Terho). Judging by Simone’s face in the encounter, she doesn’t quite know the answer to that question.

That certainly explains the expression of horror she had on her face at the tail end of the premiere after reading the results. Although she’d made an agreement with Lucas to steer clear of one another after their hookup, since she was choosing to stay with Wes instead, the possibility that he’s the father of her child complicates things much further. (It’s been a while since we’ve had a good paternity question mark storyline on Grey’s!)

Elsewhere in the teaser, we get a glimpse of the disaster of the day, a slip-n-slide incident that Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Blue will be witness and first responders to; Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) getting a friendly home visit from Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Toni Wright (Jen Landon); and newcomer Dr. Seth Norton (James Wolk) will make an interesting proposal to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) to help out more with the new VIP suite … from her new home in Boston, it seems.
