Consider the beef squashed.

Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift joined forces for an epic opening number at the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, officially ending the feud that dominated headlines prior to the show.

Minaj, who was known to be the opener, started the night out with a Coming to America-esque rendering of her new song “Trini Dem Girls,” which segued into her hit, “The Night Is Still Young.” Halfway through, in a wholly unexpected surprise, Swift joined her. The number then transitioned into Swift’s own chart topper, “Bad Blood,” which the two performed together.

Minaj and Swift began feuding almost immediately after VMA nominations were announced in July when Minaj tweeted her anger over not getting more nominations for her record-shattering “Anaconda” video. Her tweet-storm included mention of “other girls,” which Swift took as a slight. Minaj said she was referring to institutionalized racism, though, and Swift eventually apologized. Apology accepted.

But, just when you thought it was safe to be a pop star again, Minaj lit a flame under her fresh feud with the show’s host Miley Cyrus. At the end of her acceptance speech for best hip-hop video, Minaj called out Cyrus as “this bitch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press.” Cyrus, appearing immediately after, attempted to play it off the best she could, blaming the New York Times for “manipulating” her interview. So… maybe they’ll collaborate next year?
