What’s Worth Watching: The TV Land Awards Move Past the Less Recent Past

Perhaps as part of TV Land’s effort to move past its reputation as the premier destination for The Brady Bunch repeats, the TV Land Awards have returned after a three-year hiatus to dole out trophies to slightly more recent fare than, like the criminally under-appreciated Judd Apatow comedy Freaks and Geeks, which will receive the “15^th Anniversary Award.” Jennifer Hudson will be there too, belting out “Whatever Makes You Happy” from Fox’s Empire. That’s not to say they’re leaving the less recent past behind, though: Joan Rivers gets a stirring tribute, and The Wonder Years will leave with the “Impact Award.”
