OWN Debuts ‘Queen Sugar’ Season 2 Trailer

On Monday, OWN released the trailer for Season 2 of the acclaimed drama series Queen Sugar, which premieres over two nights June 20-21 at 10/9c before airing in its regular Wednesday time slot.

According to an OWN release, the second season continues the creative initiative established in the first season, as creator and executive producer Ava DuVernay (Selma, the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time) has assembled an all-female directing team: Kat Candler (12 Monkeys), DeMane Davis (Lift), Cheryl Dunye (Stranger Inside), Aurora Guerrero (Mosquita y Mari) and Amanda Marsalis (Echo Park). Additional directors will be announced.

Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Kofi Siriboe and Rutina Wesley headline the cast. Prior to the Season 2 premiere, OWN will air the first season of Queen Sugar in marathons on Monday, May 29, beginning at 2/1c, and on Sunday, June 18, beginning at 3/2c. Season 1 is also available on Hulu.
